MSD digital window switch install/wiring

I have an MSD digital window switch to install on my 1995 Lt1. It will be installed with the NX GM EFI wet nitrous kit, therefore 2 soleniods. Anyways, I am looking for instructions or tutorials on how to install this device with my wet kit since I really have no clue when it comes to stuff like this, lol.

Thanks guys.

Re: MSD digital window switch install/wiring

anyways here is what came in the box:
RED This is the on/off wire. Connects to switched 12 volts
BLACK Connects to a good ground
WHITE Signal input. Provides the trigger signal from a tach input, +5 - 12 volt signal from an ignition tach terminal, ECU output or coil negative terminal

Output Wires
GREY Normally closed. This wire will remove the ground source at your desired on RPM, and complete the ground at the set off RPM
YELLOW Normally open. This wire will provide a ground source at your desired on RPM, and remove the ground at the set off rpm.

So, where do I get the tach signal from??

once I get that figured out, the biggest problem for me is what to do with the output wires.........do I use both or just one?? And, where the hell do I put them. I have an nx wet kit (2 solenoids). The switch in the console switches the ground on for the system.......this wire runs to the relay provided with the NX kit.

please help!!!

You won't use the Gray wire the yellow is the one you want to use to control your circut with. Many ways to wire it up. I used the yellow wire on the grounding side of the relay. Are you running a MSD ingnition box? (6A, 6AL, Digital 6). They all have a tach out put to connect to to get your rpm off of. If not you will have to go to wire going to tach. I think they reccomend NOT going to the - side of coil.

Re: MSD digital window switch install/wiring

I found this on the Nx Nitrous Express web site.

http://www.nitrousexpress.com/Instru...ndowswitch.pdf

Its a wiring diagram for a window switch which uses plug in rpm pills but the wiring of the yellow wire from the window switch is the same as an MSD 8969 windoW switch.

I am just about to wire up my MSD 8969 window switch but I have an MSD6AL so I will take the tach signal from the green wire on the back of there.

I have a download of the MSD 8969 wiring instructions ( I can email to you if you want) but it is exactly the same as the diagram that came in the box. According to that you have to take the tach signal from the negative side of the coil if you don't have an MSD6AL.

I hope this is of some help to you do a search in the N20 section on rpm window switch there is lots of info there.

Re: MSD digital window switch install/wiring

Ok, thanks guys. Now since my arming switch actually controls the grounding, do I splice the yellow wire into this??? (before the relay) or do I take the 2 ground wires of the solenoids and wire them to the yellow wire.

And with regards to the RPM source, should I shy away from using the - side of the coil for sure??

Re: MSD digital window switch install/wiring

For the Lt1 you choose V8 mode, I got this from a post on here read this post and it says V8 for LT1.

I would run the yellow wire as the "load in" to your arming switch and the rest would be "load out". I would ground your solenoids together separately from that system. I know the directions say NOT TO USE the - of coil for rpm.

Re: MSD digital window switch install/wiring

What could be a potential problem if I did use the neg side of the coil??

So if I use the tach wire, where is it located.

Re: MSD digital window switch install/wiring

Guys, the grounding side of the relay is what my arming switch is controlled to......does this matter?

Re: MSD digital window switch install/wiring

After reading it again...I guess if you are running stock ignition you can go to coil. My mistake.

That's fine...you'll want to put the window switch in-line with the arming switch.

Just cut one wire to the arming switch (doesn't matter which) and connect it to one of the yellow wires, and the remaining yellow wire goes back to the switch. It doesn't matter which yellow wire goes where....they just provide a contact closure at the specified RPM.

You won't use either grey wire.

Actually, there is only 1 grey and 1 yellow wire. Did you mean perhaps hook the ground to the window switch to the arming switch and then hook the yellow wire to the ground side of the relay?? (the ground side of the relay is hooked to my arming switch)
