Msd 6al

Will any MSD 6AL work with an LT1?

One of my friends just won one off ebay but the seller was using it on a Datsun.

Is this the MSD unit that will allow you to retard timing yourself?

1 degree or 2 degrees for 100 shot?

Yes, any 6AL will work. One poar of little wires on the side will need to be reconnected though, but it's not a big deal. No, it will not retard timing, only the Digital 6+ or Digital 7 will retard your timing. Use a MSD timing retard to do this. The rule of thumb is 2* per 50 shot, so at 100 you would theoretically pull 4* to be safe.

Hope that helps,
Chris

So he should buy an MSD digital 6 instead? Or is the MSD timing retard something you can buy seperate? He has an Accell 300+ ignition system right now.

Re: Msd 6al

I would get the Digi6, good box. The Timing retard is a separate box you can buy, but I would sell the Acell system and get the Digi6, nothing else to buy that way.
