Re: Meth Injection?

Methanol injection is used to prevent detonation mainly in boosted applications. You won't really see a power gain from using meth injection by itself.

Same with the alcohol.

Re: Meth Injection?

Reduces the chance of detonation on a boosted motor.

Re: Meth Injection?

if you run it with lets say an intercooled procharger will it increase the intercoolers effects

Re: Meth Injection?

Think of meth injection as a liquid intercooler, and the biggest benefit is you won't end up on COPS using it!

Re: Meth Injection?

With?
It works in a different way than the intercooler

On?
Yes, the Meth would draw heat out of the IC, and therefore increasing the ability of the IC to intercool

Re: Meth Injection?

All meth does really is cool down the intake temps..lower temps result in being able to run higher compression with out detonation on boosted applications. No real benifit if your running N/A.

See thats what I was thinking but my friend is using alcohol injection on his turbo system...he says he is shooting at a certain rpm during boost and should see a 60 hp gain...

Re: Meth Injection?

Alcohol has a high latent heat of evaporation, cools as it evaporates. It also has a high octane rating.

Alcohol is great for blown or turbo applications to cool the incomming air/fuel charge. The high octane rating also allows a higher compression ratio for more power.

If your friends car is computer controlled he is probably using it to control detonation so he can run more timing and more boost making more power.

If you simply put alcohol into an engine not specifically designed for it you would likely lose about 30% power. Now, maximize the engine for alcohol and you can make more power than with gasoline.
