How much NOS to go from 11.7 to 10.5?

My motor is fully forged 396LT1, runs 11.7's at 119 with fair traction, 1.7's 60' times. But I need to get to 10.6 or even 10.5's and need to know if 125hp shot is enough, or do I definitely need more?

I think you will definetly need more. The quicker you get, the more nitrous you need to go faster. I would think you would need in the range of a 200 shot.

I'm no nitrous expert, but I would have to agree with buzz.

HHMM, I can only muster up 125 with ZEX. Oh well, maybe an 10.99???

IMO a properly set up 150 shot will get you there without a problem.

200 shot will take you to 10.5 @ 132.5 mph.

125 shot will take you to 10.9 @ 127.8 mph.

Just so everyone understands this correctly...These HP #s are ENGINE HP not RWHP...right ?

And to the threadstarter....just use what you have on there now and see what it gets ya...You probably want to hit it as soon as you launch also !

If you need to go faster (which we always do LOL ) then you can look at upgrading your system....

Good luck

That's right engine hp.

I modeled his ability to use the power he has now on his motor pass.

I used that same model to process his nitrous passes.

He would have to spray off the line and hook up as well as he has in the past (again, it's the same model).

Good point.

Depends on if the combo is set up for the bottle. I go from 11.9@115 to 10.3@130 with a 150rwhp shot. I have not had a chance to tune in the 200 hit.

Re: How much NOS to go from 11.7 to 10.5?

The only "NOS" in my system is a noid for my purge....

But to get to 1.5 from 11.7... Ya a lot. 200 may do it. 150 would surely get you into the 10s, but the faster you go, the more power it takes for each .1 Try it and see what happens

You say fully forged, but how much N20 are you setup to run? My rings are setup for 200 shot, are yours? And what is your forged setup? What about main caps? My caps will be the first thing to go, but I think I can survive 200 pills.

Splayed Caps, Studs, Callies Stealth Crank, Balanced with Mallory metal and just a beautiful piece of metal, Billet 5.85 inch Lunati rods, SRP coated pistons and to be honest not sure of rings. But I was told, via the engine builder 200hp is no biggy on this motor.
Now, anything past the motor, well thats just buuilt as good as I can hope for.

I also have some friendly questions.....

Either your jetting is wrong and your shooting more than you think or you have the worlds best nitrous camshaft !
Either way...that's damn impressive !!! I also live in Newark and I would like to see your car sometime....maybe hit the track this spring !

Is your car red ? I saw a wicked nice (looks and sounds) red camaro 4th gen this past weekend...turned from 40 onto 896 up towards I-95 ,,,, it had skinnies and fatties on it...

Re: How much NOS to go from 11.7 to 10.5?

Yeah, a proeprly setup car and tune with a NX kit jetted for 150 will drop more than 1 second. My old setup would go from 11.50@118mph to 10.30@130mph on the 150HP jets. My new combo went from 11.30@120mph running way rich to 9.83@136mph with only 150HP NX! There is alot of HP in tuning the n2o where it makes the most power. I did run a 100shot fuel jet to lean it out a little and had 1,000+psi bottle pressure so it hit really hard and still had 950psi after the run. Goodluck Later Clint
