Making Your Own Nitrous Lines?
I want to be able to make my own replacement nitrous lines. I have no idea of how to do this and would like to learn. What tools and supplies will i need to make stainless AN nitrous lines?

You would need either a hydraulic crimp machine or a hand operated one, along with the dies for the sizes of hose that you wanted to do. Then you'll need the hose, collars, inserts, and end fittings.

How many lines are you planning on making? You will have a few thousand dollars in machines and tooling. Not to mention where did you plan on buying the hose inserts and collars? You probably can't buy them direct unless you are buying in bulk. And if you did find a place that would sell them to you a few at a time it would probably cost about $4-5 an end plus cost of the hose which unless you buy in bulk could be anywhere from $2-3 a foot. I think you would be better of just ordering the lines. And if you need custom lengths I'm sure a lot of the nitrous companys offer custom length hoses.

You might try a hydralic line supply house, but like srsnow said, be ready to spend some $$$. Just a heads up in case you didn't know, we do offer custom hoses: http://www.harrisspeedworks.com/shop/home.php?cat=261

Re: Making Your Own Nitrous Lines?
I had all my lines built by a hydraulic supply place. I dont have the fancy blue/red fittings, but they made lines for me and a few buddies right in front of us. It was extremely inexpensive too. I had like 7 lines made ranging from 36 to 12" for under $50

Thanks for the heads up guys. I had no idea the tooling would be so much. I kindof just wanted to try it on my own.

I don't know how much experience you have had setting
up fuel-hydraulic-air ect; for high pressure using flex line
of all sorts and AN fittings??
I've owned a few shops, Cars and boats, and been using
Flex & AN for many years.
AN 4-6-8--1500psi Operating Pressure!
Your not going to use the cheap flex line for that that application. Just showing you don't have to get all the whistles and bells equipment to do it yourself.
Read up on assembly before putting keyboard to use.

Re: Making Your Own Nitrous Lines?
The problem is that your first statment was very vague. You made it sound like he could just go down to Autozone and get some hose and start making stuff. You need to know what the line is rated for that you want to use. You need to make sure that the parts you are using are correct for the wall thinkness of the teflon hose you are using. Also what size lines are you going to be making? -3 after a solenoid would probably be fine if it was assembled properly but a -6 will have a lower working pressure than a -3 and may not be a good idea to use as a feed line. Now do you want a line that has the the same burst pressure as the saftey disc in the valve? There is a lot of what ifs when making lines that while normaly will only see 1000psi should be able to handle 3000psi before failing. If you are going to tell a guy that he can make his own line using reusable hose ends you can't be so vague because some one that has never done it before may go out and use the wrong parts and end up hurting himself. If the line was assembled wrong and the fitting came off it could cause some major injuries. I can appreciate you wanting to give someone an option other than what has been posted but a little more info may help them to understand what they are getting into.

Re: Making Your Own Nitrous Lines?
A little vague, agree.
(A line of that type-Could get ugly.)
Be willing to bet that 50% or more N02 people make
up some portion of thier lines using flex an AN fittings.
Should have realized that he was going to run down to
Autozone, buy a vise, some electrical and flexline or rubber
hose and start fabricating without asking any further questions
Not going to get into a p-----g contest with you and assume that most people on this board are smarter than
you give them credit for
