Making my own kit

I am thinking about just making my own wet kit, a friend did it and it seemed to work pretty good, from what I understand this is what I need, please add to this list I am just talking about basic getting it running dont care about bottle heaters/fuel pressure safety switch etc.. right now.

N20 Side:
--------------------
Bottle (prolly 10lbs) used of course
Long n20 line to go from bottle to n20 solenoid
N20 solenoid
Shorter line to go from N20 solenoid to nozzle

Fuel Side:
-------------------
Shorter hose to go from schrader valve to Fuel Solenoid
Fule Solenoid
Another Shorter hose to go from fuel Solenoid to nozzle

Other:
------------------
WOT Switch
Windows Switch
Appropriet Jet size for 75hp shot

now I know I will also need to wire the lines coming from the 2 solenoids to a 12v switch in order to spray the n20 and fuel but I dont know where the WOT switch comes into play.

I plan to get a window switch which I think I wire the two solenoids into instead of the switch.

What I dont get is the purpose of an arming switch, is that just suppose to turn the window switch on?

Is it cheaper to build your own or buy an upgrade kit? WTF does an upgrade kit even mean?

Re: Making my own kit

If you go to Nitro Daves or Harris Speed Works websites, you can probably price out each piece and figure out that way how much it will run total. The costs between a homemade kit and a brand new kit will be pretty close unless you buy most of your parts used. An arming switch is just the power switch that activates the entire N20 system. When that switch is on, the nitrous system is in a ready status and awaiting the signal from the WOT microswitch to activate the relay which will energize the fuel/nitrous solenoids. The upgrade kit is something like the GENX2 kit which is basically a kit that complements the nitrous kit itself. It contains the bottle heater, fuel pressure safety switch, blowdown tube, a pressure gauge, and alot of wiring and connectors. Also, if you go to the Nitrous Express website, you can download an instruction manual for the universal GM wet nozzle kit or something similar and you can find the wiring schematic which will give you a general idea of the concept behind the arming switch, the WOT switch, and the rest of the system wiring. It is alot easier to understand once you see it on paper.

No, I'm no expert, I've learned alot from these guys though, this site is truly one of the best out there. Yeah, we should get a meet together soon, the weather hasn't been to cooperative lately. Maybe we should make a post in the Regional section and see if we can round some people up.

Re: Making my own kit

I was looking into just buying a used kit from someone off of here. Its alot cheaper and if it came off of a car and was being used, it should be complete.
