LT1 TNT kit--Throttle Position????

Anyone have any idle issues after installing a LT1 TNT kit?
My car wouldn't idle. I thought I had a leak after the Maf but it turned out that I had to adj the set screw for the idle in the throttle body?

Thanks
Tom

I had problem with the pieces that held the cable braket. It would move the cable far enough forward to leave any slack and didnt want to come back to idle. to fix this I bent the bracket a little bit and have had no problems since.

I have the same problem, but I haven't bothered to adjust it yet since it doesn't do it all the time.

I have the TNT kit on my '96 Vette. The plate that comes with the kit needs the IAC port majorly hogged out/shaped to match the triangular IAC area on your throttle body.

This does two things. 1. It allows the IAC to deliver the air it needs to without opening excessively AND 2. It allow bypass idle air from the TB to enter the plenum directly.

There should never be a need to have to crack the throttle plates. All idle air delivery can be taken care of with the IAC port and the proper sizing of the bypass hole. This really helps with any type of idle surging when using a larger than stock cam.

My engine is an LT4/Hotcam conversion (A4 tranny w/ 9.5" 2800 stall) and idles beautifully at 875rpm with the A/C on.

EDIT: As far as the extra throttle cable tension due to the plate width, on my '96 there is a button on the throttle cable going to the ASR unit. One push and the cable automatically adjusts to the proper length/tension. I'm sure there must be some similar adjustability with other LT1/LT4 powered vehicles as well.

Dan Parker96,

Dan,
you don't happen to have a picture of what you did to that IAC port do you? We did notice that I was having problems with my IAC count being very high.

Thats some very good info.

Thanks
Tom

Here's a pic of the NOT completed plate. There still needs to be another (smaller) hole drilled above this one. The two holes ended up joining together and then I filed down the remaining "points" to create somewhat of a matching triangular area to the TB.

The lower, larger hole should match the size of the IAC port in your manifold. The smaller, upper hole should at least match the size of the idle air bypass hole in your TB.

For some reason I forgot to take a pic of the finished product but you should get the idea.

Thanks for the pic.
Looks like there is another design flaw with the kit
