Leaking NX solonoid

Ok, well I tried to "rebuild" my NX nitrous solenoid and purge solenoid... as some of you may remember, I found some "white stuff" in my lines/fittings/solenoids/etc.

http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=332768

Well now that everything is back together (with new -4an line/fittings/filter) my nitrous solonoid is leaking up through the lines into my intake... No liquid or cold gas, but normal air... I'm sure if I left it leaking long enough it would leak actual nitrous.

So I obviously damaged the solonoid when I took it apart and put it back together...

I would NEVER recomend anyone use a vise and or vise grips on their solonoids... sure, you can clamp the body in a vise to hold it to tighten fittings, but be careful. As for the tower in the solenoid, do NOT put vise grips on it. I stepped up the pressure of the vice grips until it stopped slipping, and at that pressure, it deformed the metal enough to cause problems.

I am going to order the correct part to dissasemble solenoids... but if I was in a jam, I would double nut it like was recomended to me.

So, what would cause this leaking past the closed solenoid? Would a rebuild fix it?

I'm currently buying new ones to replace these with, so I can make my dyno time and a race this weekend. $247 mistake...

So hopefully I can rebuild these and keep as spares, or put on another vehicle.

IF the tower is damaged then the piston is not straight in the bore. The piston must be straight, then the bottom of the piston will be flat. And that is what will allow it to seat properly. Since it is just an small amount of air the piston might just need to seated. This is how you do it.
Take a rubber malet with pressure on, strike the buttom side of solenoid. What this will do is bounce the piston off its seat and back down. Do this several times. If the noise of air coming out does not change it is not seating. It should only take a few strikes to hear a difference. It might take several to get the thing to seat. Do not be affraid to take your fustration out on the noid, it can handle it. The factory cycles the noid to get them to seat.

And your other choice just send them in and I will get them taken care of.. Just for giving people the warning about vise grips. No charge for parts.

Thanks, I'll try the hammer method right now...

And that is awesome for the offer for repair. I was just ordering the parts online, but I'll send them in for the free offer.

Do I need to mention anyone to get that deal?

Also, will I have to do this hammer method everytime I spray on this solenoid? Or will the piston become straight and stay that way. It seems that I could make it seal, but then after a pull on the dyno or a run down the track it might unseat again...

Once seated it should not have to be done again. Do not use the noid with the missed up tower. The piston might lift and get stuck up there.
