Is an ignition box really needed???

I was told so far by two people that i would not really need an ignition box for just a 100 to 125 shot. Is this true? If you read my other thread i was looking at getting the mallory box, but if i dont really need it at this point and time then thats 230bucks i can save for other things.
thanks
omar

You may not hurt anything the first few times out. But whats $230 compared to a complete rebuild if you did need it?

Just a thought

Well yes very true. This is why im still wanting one. Its just if i dont need it in the sense that its not going to help in saving my motor, or make any difference at all then id rather keep my money. If its one of those "well you can make it by without it and hope for the best" type things. Then i guess ill just invest in one.

Stock ignition is fine for a 100 shot. Get a box if you plan to run more juice than that.

Re: Is an ignition box really needed???

I was using a 100 shot when I first got my nitrous. My Accel box went bad, and whie I was waiting for it to come back from Accel, I tried to spray my car at the track, and it didn't work so well. It may have been the plugs I was using at the time (I can't remember what I had in there).

Moral of the story- why chance it? I would just get the ignition.

I agree, it's worth the money!!!
A small shot won't need it, but if anything ever goes wrong... atleast you'll have a couple degrees less timing to give you a bit of a buffer.
