How to seal my Fuel plumbing...
How to seal my Fuel plumbing...
Alrighty, I got a fuel pressure safety switch, an electronic sending unit, a fuel pressure gauge, AND my outlet to my solenoid. I already have all the fittings, and it will look pretty sweet when it is put in there, BUT...how to seal it?
Do I just use that thin white plumbers tape that feels like a plastic bag? I forgot the name, and I know that had to sound retarded. But can I just use a limited amount of that to seal everything up??

Re: How to seal my Fuel plumbing...
On the AN Lines, the fittings are like a cup and a ball i never had any issues with them sealing without anything, from what ive always heard the plumbers tape on the fittings you could get a peice in the line and get it in the selanoid.
but the an fittings are made to fit and seal on there own

What is the thread sealant?
Here is what I have going on:
-4an manifold with an electronic pressure sender going straight up off the Schraeder
-a 4an x3 Female T-adapter on top of the manifold
-a 90* bend on the right T adapter to a female 4anx1/8 female
-a 4an male x 4an male on the left T, to another 4an manifold with the FPSS
That just seems like a lot to be putting together to not rely on sealant...

Re: How to seal my Fuel plumbing...
AN fittings DO NOT seal because of their threads like things that have conventional NPT threads.....they seal because of the angle of the two "deep" (commonly 45 degree angle) inner surfaces that mate when their tightened together(like a ball and cup, as mentioned earlier)...I must have 10 of them on my car and none of them ever leak...DONT over tighten them and you'll have no worries........NO teflon tape, OR any type of thread sealant should be used on them ever(this can easily make them leak by disrupting the mating angles inside)........Now on the other hand, NPT threads, like those on a Fuel pressure safety switch, should be sealed with a generous coat of Teflon paste(non hardening) like the TUFF brand from home depot..........Other types of all purpose thread sealant are (non-hardening) permatex #2, and permatex also has a white thread sealant with teflon in it, but it makes a big mess in my opinion..........so, nothing on any AN fittings, and teflon paste on the NPT fittings....

Re: How to seal my Fuel plumbing...
Didn't have it braced well enough and it got twisted too much and broke the schraeder valve off the fuel rail.
How do you get the fuel rail off??
How do you get the fuel rail off??
Re: How to seal my Fuel plumbing...
Get a fuel line remover tool (5/8 and can't remember the other size) and slide it in between the fuel lines and rail. Push the lines in then pull them off. 4 bolts bolt the rail to the intake manifold. After the fuel lines have been disconnected take these bolts out. Remove the vacuum line running from the pass. side intake manifold to the fuel pressure regulator on the back of the rail. Pry up on the rail and it and the injectors will be freed from the intake.
Re: How to seal my Fuel plumbing...
So the fuel rail AND the injectors will slide free from the intake manifold?
I think I need to disconnect the electronic clips to the injectors correct?
