How not to spray in 1st.
How not to spray in 1st.
I have a 383 M6 with 4.11 gears. I am planning to add a 100 or 150 shot via a NX wet kit. The thing is, I do not want to spray in first gear. I know one option would be to put a switch on the shifter ****, but I would like to avoid that if possible. I would rather have something automatic. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Thanks

I guess you could try to do a microswitch along with the shifter, right?? When the shifter slams second gear, it would hit the switch activating the system. Your foot would also be controling the WOT switch for safety also. The switch would probably have to be visible because you would want to turn it off when you are done
Anyone ever do this?
Maybe train a monkey to ride shotgun and toggle the switch
Goodluck
Or ge stickier tires and jsut spray first gear right out of the hole:teek:

There is already a semi-trained monkey in the drivers seat!
I understand that some of the control boxes, like the NX Maximizer or Jacobs can be set to only spray above a certain mph.
Any other ideas?

Why dont you want to spray in 1st. Thats when its the most fun IMO. Not sure if ya got a 12 bolt or 9", but if ya do throw on some slicks and let er eat!!! If you dont have a after market rear GET ONE!! Most races are won by whoever has the best 60ft. sounds like your making all kinds of power why not use it to its FULL potential, spray in 1st!!!

I have a Strange 12 bolt, ACCPT Drive Shaft and Street Twin clutch, so I am not worried about the drive line. The problem is traction, even with the Nitto DRs. That is why I want the option not to spray in 1st. I would like the system to let me spray in first if I go with MTs (or become a better driver). I know the easiest way would be a switch on the shifter, but that is just someting else you have to mess with.

I am sure it could be done with a different type of switch though.
The way I go about not spraying first is use a WOT switch under the hood, and a Hurst T- Handle shift **** with a momentary pushbutton. I have 4.11's and an M6 so it is tough enough to launch the car. Spraying in second also help me protect the rear end to a certain extent.
Once I have engaged second gear at WOT, I depress and hold the button to spray. Once I reach 5800 rpms I release the pushbutton and shift. Etc., etc.
I don't currently have a window switch in my system, but one could be added in case you miss a shift and to protect from accidently spraying too low or too high. The safety device I have is my FPSS.
