How much should I spray?

I just put together a 355 LT1 to go into my 89 RS. I used some Speed Pro Forged pistons and Eagle H beam rods with the stock crank. With stock ported heads and a good cam combo I'm hoping to be around 400rwhp on motor and was thinking of spraying a 150 shot on top of this. You think I'll be safe? I'll do the usuals as far us upgrading the intank pump and so forth. I'm not a newbie to nitrous just wondering what this motor can handle.

Re: How much should I spray?

i have used up to a 175 shot at times, and it will be seeing 200 maybe more in the near future with my LT1 that has been together for nearly 5 years. stock crank, 6' eagle "SIR" rods, and Keith Black hyperutectic pistons.

just make sure you use all the usual nitrous precautions (timing retard, octane, cold plugs, ect... ) and im sure you'll be fine with a 150.

There are guys running a 150 shot on stock internals... so I think you'll be fine. That stock crank should be good up to 700hp.

Re: How much should I spray?

There is a misconception about "how much" nitrous a motor can handle. I've seen stock 2 bolt cast crank cast piston motors handle 200+ for dozens of runs without so much as a whimper. The tune is key. With your combo, assuming it's put together right and the nitrous is tuned right, I wouldn't be afraid to hit it with 250 but 150 is a good starting point to sort things out.

Re: How much should I spray?

the tuning part is right..and i have proof of that...i took every possible precaution in my 93 with over 115 EXTREMELY hard driven miles..and it saw about a bottle a week..sometimes more..one time..i used it 11 times in an hours time...i raced 11 people(it was a 100 shot) i have mt streets so i juiced from 1st to 6000 rpms in 4th...car never had a problem till the clutch went..lol then i sold the nitrous. im doing a forged/billet bottom end over the winter and ill be goin a two stage(2 separate nitrous kits) and have the first kit spray 150shot from 3500-4500 and the second 150 shot kick in from 4500-6500(300 total)..boy am i gonna have fun.
