how much nitrous on a 400 horse head/cam LT1
ok all i have a few questions about nitrous. first off i am a nitrous newbie. i am getting heads and cam done by lloyd and i should be around 400 horses on a stock bottom end LT1 with about 70,000 miles on the clock. lloyds recommendations as far as the injectors are 36 pounders. my question is since i am buying injectors anyways should i go ahead and get the 42's. also what about the fuel pump. with a 100 to a 150 shot. i will be up around 500 horses on the stock bottom end. will the stock fuel pump be able to handle this and if not. what kind is recommend. also will a LT1 bottom end handle 500 horses without something giving up. also one last quetion. what else do i need to upgrade to be able to run nitrous on this 400 horse power engine. and what is the most nitrous that i can SAFELY run. thaks all for the help and i hope that the expertise in this board can help me out.

im doing the same as you, i have heads/cam (see sig), and just bought a n20 kit.
1. you will for sure need a bigger fuel pump, a WALBRO 255lph will work great. racetronix sells the entire kit for around $150,
2. as far as injectors, i run the 42# SVO's without any problems. im with you, if you have to get bigger injectors anyway why not go with the 42#, it gives you room to grow
3. you will need colder spark plugs like the NGK-TR6, or autolite 103's.
4. its hard to tell what your motor can handle, what kinda rpm's are you going to be turning with the new heads/cam combo?
im going to start with a small 50 shot and work my way up, and see what happens...
here's my thoughts, with a heads/cam/stock bottom end combo, shift point above 6000 and a hit of nitrous, its only a matter of time before a rebuild.
i should start spraying mine soon and have n20 times in sept.

i bought a used nitrous works kit, but it has a NOS nozzle instead of the plate system. its kinda a bastard kit
my window switch is programmed from 3000-6000
with my cam/heads, i shift around 6300 or so.
IMO 2000rpm is a bit low to start spraying....

a wot switch doesnt have anything to do with rpm.....
you need a WOT regardless (wide open throttle)
the window switch will control what rpm the n2o sprays

Definitely get the window switch and the RaceTronix pump. You can get the fuel pump from Thunder Racing.
