Re: How do you pull timing?

Whatever you do, don't go this way...for I still don't know the answer!

I have the 6al/dig window switch/8982. I lost 20rwhp with 2* of timing. Since I hardly spray, I am contemplating taking the 2* out. And if the digital is the answer, I hate to spend 3 bills when I've already spent over that on the 3 things I've already bought!!!

Re: How do you pull timing?

An aftermarket ignition box with timing retard function lets you pull timing when you run nitrous, yet let's you keep full timing for all other occasions. The ignition boxes also generate a hotter spark which helps to keep the nitrous from "blowing it out".

Re: How do you pull timing?

You could have a second PCM chip burned that has custom timing curves and just swap the chips when you are at the track spraying.

Re: How do you pull timing?

I was just told that you didn't have to pull timing under a 150 shot...if there weren't any signs of detonation. How can you determine if it is detonating? I've already spent the money on all 3 items and I definately don't want to spend more on the digital box...so I may just pull the timing out. I mean, it's not like I have a 55 gallon drum of nitrous in my back seat that I continuously spray. I just hate the fact that I lost 20rwhp. Good or bad idea??

Re: How do you pull timing?

I've got new chips out that have a wire coming from them.. Ground the wire and you go into a nitrous mode.. or less timing and adjust AFR (if you give me a dyno sheet with the jets your using.)

I have a dyno tune...will this chip work with that? Does it have a window switch in it? How much is the chip? How does it work??!!!!!!!!!!

That is what Nitrous Express told me. He said it was okay as long as there wasn't any detonation.
