help a new guy out with nitrous
another newbie question for nitrous.
im just bought a 95 lt1 t/a m6, with about 60k miles on it.
eventually im going to go turbo, but until that is all setup, i would like to run some nitrous to get the speed i crave.
i need atleast mid-high 12's to be happy.
what type of nitrous shot would i need, besides basic bolt ons, to hit that or faster? also, im thinking wet shot.
its a daily driver, and im going to put alot of miles on it, so i need something reliable.......and i have good self control...i can stay off the juice unless im racing.

F-bud: you may be asking the wrong question when you say "i need atleast mid-high 12's to be happy. what type of nitrous shot would i need". The question is "what's the biggest shot I can use on my stock motor and expect it to live". While not an expert on that question, I offer the following. Use a wet kit, the ability to easily tune fuel is a big advantage. Use a window switch along with a WOT switch. Don't activate the nitrous at less than 3,500rpm (or more if using a large shot). If you use more than 75hp being able to retard timing will be helpful in promoting longevity.

First ? is do you have all the basic bolt ons (CAI,catback exhuast, headers). If your missing one of those I would go there 1st. With some drag radials that should get you low 13s ....At that point the a wet nitrous kit with the safty features you need will cost you $800-1000 and you put it in yourself. You could do a cam swap for that price and have power all the time(installed)and be well into the 12s. Thats the route I went and only went to the power adder when I wanted 11.xx runs. I know this is more advice than the answer to the question you ask but Rich did a good job of that.

Yes...under the right conditions(good traction, good weather, good driver) with long tube headers a cam like the lt4 hot cam will get you into the 12s. Add few other odds and ends like 1.6rr, 52mm TB and ported stock heads and you can run consistent mid 12s with ET streets
with just bolt ons i'd be in the 12's if my tranny wasn't dieing
13.2
decent tires, long tubes, catback, half *** POS CAI and gears. i'm trapping at 106 so i shoud be there
rollerrockers would put me there consistantly
and a cam woulda got me deeper
