i hate my POS NOS heater works when i wants to at the track, and usually it doesn't work at all!!!

any ideas, i thought about a plug in cooler to throw some water into and heat up and drop the bottles in to warm up? just have to find who sells them. i have seen the ones with fans in them.

Are you still using the POS "thermostat" that comes with the NOS heater? If so,throw it in the weeds. That design is total crap. I have been running NOS heaters for a few years WITHOUT that stupid thermostat, and havent had a problem yet.
I just watch my pressure guage and shut it off manually.I think NX has a new "hottank" (for lack of a better description) that you can set bottles in and warm them up.

Taner....why not just use a crock pot ? Maybe make some stew while yer at it! A

Honestly i would buy an NX heater. Mine works flawlessly so far.

Yeah I'd just pony up the dough, and get an NX heater. You won't be sorry. Then you could sell your NOS heater for a few bucks to offset the cost.

I agree that the NOS thermostat is a POS. The actual heating pad is the same as the NX piece though. Dont bother buying the complete NX kit. Just buy the pressure transducer and fittings needed to crossover. You should be able to take the same wires that are ran though the NOS thermostat (blue and green I think)and run them through the NX pressure transducer. I cant beleive NOS continues to sell that POS thermostat, and I certainly wouldnt sink to there level by pushing it off on someone else.

If you just want to buypass the thermostat, so you can monitor with a guage, then clip or cut (if they havent already broken off) the 2 wires going to the thermostat. Just splice the 2 wires together. (Of course you need to have a toggle either on the hot or the relayed hot, so you can manually turn the heater on and off)

Taner,

The HotBox is the new Rave setup. There are two different designs. One using Water, and the other using Air. Just drop the bottle(s) in the Aluminum Box, and it'll heat em up. If NX Started making them, it must have been just recently, as I haven't heard of em.

I like the Air method better, soley cuz you don't have to mess around with Dripping wet bottles.

If you want/need to bypass the NOS thermostat, unplug it,and just hook the 2 wires going to it together.
Friend has the NX heater and works good, but im too cheap to pony up for the pressure sensor, seeing how i already have a guage.
Plus if the lanes are long,i can heat the bottle a little higher than normal, and let everything just sit before the run.
NX doesnt have it in the Catalog,But Jon Phillips (nmra, nsca, pro) NX rep had a setup like that with hiS NX display, not sure if his was air or water.

FYI - Here's a cheap alternative to the standard nitrous companies heating elements.

I know of a few people running it with the outer cover removed.

Theyre somewhere in the $250 range. Just around-abouts anyways.... I noticed Lizzard has em on Special for $225..... www.Lizzardracing.com

The guys on thge NMCA Board know a good deal more about these things then I do, might wanna give them a shout....

Not sure which direction I'm gonna go yet..... I already have two complete 6AN NX Heaters, but then again the HotBox is much simpler, and won't drain my battery. I feel like I could only justify one of these if I got an enclosed trailer though.....

I really wanna to do a Nitrogen Push system... Too bad everyone's sceered of it, and would outlaw me......

Decisions decisions......

I like it! What Regulator are you using, and any leads on where I can get on where I can get some of the stuff I need? Grainger maybe?

Looks like ya need a bigger Nitrogen bottle there man.
