Guys spraying 150 wet shot w/ stock fuel pump inside...

I've got a race coming up soon for the high school title of fastest car it's against a 2nd gen SS camaro with a built motor, 4.10s, blah blah. Me and the guy are good friends but it's still a grudge match, especially since everyone including my girlfriend thinks he's gonna win. I would like to step up to a 150 shot since I see many stock bottem end motors surviving with it. The only thing I'm worried about is the fuel pump. I've got a FPSS so it'll cut the system off if the pump fails, but I don't wanna look like a chump when we run 'cause I'm sure a lot of people will be there. I would go test it out on the road but I think I've only got 1 run left in the bottle and don't have the cash to refill her right now. So who all is running their stock fuel pump? How many miles are on it? What're your other mods? Thanks a bunch.

[Edit] - I was also wondering that if the amount of nitrous left in the bottle will affect what the highest PSI it can be heated to. I ask because I let the bottle heat for about 30 minutes the other day and it barely peaked 900 psi. Started at prolly about 700. That makes me sorta worried about the PSI loss with a 150 shot for a 1/4 mile. Wouldn't it be down pretty low by the end of the run? All thoughts and comments appreciated.

Definetly get the bottle filled. I've seen people run 150 shots on a stock pump, but I myself wouldn't do it. As long as you have the FPSS then I'd say go for it. Hope you get him.

hey man. i am running a 100 wet shot now with absolutly no fuel system upgrades. i will be moving to a 150 as soon as i get a regulator. im not worried about the pump too much at a 150. i know guys that have run up to a 175 with the stock pump. BUT make sure you have a regulator. i would at least get one of those so you can bump up the psi some.

as far as the bottom end, LT1s have outstanding internals. im not in the least concerned. from what ive read their good for 450+hp. my goal is to sneak into the 11s as my car is a daily driver and i dont have alot of $$$. i should reach my goal well under 450.

oh yea, the bottle psi. how much juice you have left wont affect how much you can heat up the bottle. general rule of thumb is 900-1100 psi for a good run. you can heat it more but you run the risk of your soleniods sticking open if you have too much psi. now if you dont have alot of nitrous left, you may have to heat it up more than usuall to get a full run. after i make 2 or 3 passes with mine i usually bring it in and weight it on my home scale just to be safe, so i can get a idea of how much i need to heat it up from there on out.

if its for one time down the track...then hit that 150...however why not just get an in-line pump and have it installed before then? should run u under 200 total after install...y take the chance?

Definetly get your bottle filled. How stupid will you look for lossing the race because your bottle went empty.Do whatever you have to get the money for a bottle refill. If your car is nearly stock than a 150 shot is no problem for the stock pump. But make sure you have a clean fuel filter and let your friend (aka the punk) have it.
GOOD LUCK

you should be able to get a aeromotive fpr for 149.95 out of Summit. if you cant install that yourself, you dont need to be near a car. (in other words, very simple )

My car has 100,000 miles on it and I have been spraying for 20,000. I have zero fuel upgrades and the entire time have been running a 150 shot. It's only I run(maybe too if you want to give him a second chance. Borrow the money from a friend and get the bottle filled. You should have 1000psi.

If I don't have $41.50 to get my bottle filled then I doubt I have enough to buy a inline pump. I could install myself and save the $$$, that's what I've done with everything else.

Considering I've done plugs/wires and installed a whole nitrous system with GENXII upgrade, ignition box, and switch box, that sounds like a piece of cake then. 'Bout time for a damn easy project

I'm thinking I'll test out the 150 shot on this barren divided 4-lane and see if the pump can handle it and get the feel for it. Then go get the bottle refilled and pray for both of our cars to stay healthy(every time we've tried to run in the past something has always gone wrong with one of 'em) and pray for some nice weather and a good launch Finally got some pics of my install today but their on a buddy's computer. I'll get 'em on a site tonight or tomorrow and let ya'll have a look. Laters.

I would suggest Spraying once you get into second gear, also...

Your 60 foots are terrible, no offense and spraying 150 in first will not help any in the first gear acceleration department

My horrible 60' actually wasn't from wheelspin, I was too concentrated on hitting the button and other crap that I bogged badly out of the whole, I cut 2.0-2.1s on street tires NA. Learned how to launch better since then. I also sprayed at the end of 1st on that 13.6 run. Flipped the switch at about 4k. Prolly try it at 4500 or 5000 with the 150 shot. I can't wait

With street tires and the 150 wait until just after the second shift.

I say as soon as you shift into second and your car hooks;you hit that botton and don't worry about the rpm.If you spray it at 4000+ than youll have only 1500-2000 rpm left before you shift.I've been running juice for about 11 years in about 10 diffrent cars and I never had a motor problem. If my car hooked than a sprayed.I usually spray right out of the hole.

Then just put a few pounds of nitrous into the bottle, geesh. You don't always have to fill them to the top. Racing on a nearly empty bottle is just stupid; you'll never get the pressure up, and it will drop right off.

You don't need an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator. Hell, I STILL am using my stocker, even with heads/cam/juice. No problems with it, I like my fuel pressure at its stock levels.

I ran a 150 shot for quite a while on a 100% bone stock fuel system with no problems. Any more than a 150 shot, or any internal motor mods, I'd make sure to have a bigger pump in there. But on an internally stock car, IMO the stock pump is just peachy. About to the limits of it, but if you have a FPSS, all should be cool.
