First time using Nitrous!!

I used the Nitrous Works kit for my 88 TBI 305 and it is awesome. I think I am addicted now. We ran a 80 shot last night and then bumped it up to the 125 shot tonight. I just got it to hold me over until I get my 350 built and it is defenetly doing the job!

Why did you decide to go with it over the NOS system, because I am planning on buying a NOS tbi system this evening, is there anything about the Nitrous Works that it better?, or is it just because it is cheaper?

Mostly because it was a little cheaper but this kit is awesome. The only odd tool you really need is a pipe cutter. It makes it really easy to mount the solinoids and tap the fuel line. Very good setup.

I have had no problem with my motor so far and it has 92k miles on it. I mounted it where my spare tire used to be cuz it is easy to hide there.

Re: First time using Nitrous!!

Congrats on the install! I bet you're suprizing a mustang or two daily.

Keep the A/F ratio on the rich side and it'll handle a 150 shot all day long like mine did. Race gas and colder plugs should be used to keep the plugs from melting.

Are you pulling any timing? I got away with stock timing(6 degrees base) with the 150 shot on pump gas(93oct) ONLY with the converter unlocked. Locking the torque converter in third gear loaded the engine enough to melt 4 spark plugs at the top end of the track. Race gas would have made it work fine I think.

Keep it on 4 wheels man!

Hey thanks for all the info. I am about to change to colder plugs. My stock timing is at 0* and I have left that alone so far. How many runs should plugs last???

Re: First time using Nitrous!!

There is no set guideline or lifespan but checking the plugs after every bottle wouldn't be out of the question. At the track, I liked to check them after every run especially if I was making any changes with fuel pressure/fuel octane/timing/bottle pressure.

I forgot that TBI cars came with 0 degrees base timing. It is keeping you very safe. Why did GM keep things so "safe" on that engine? TINY cam, 0 degrees timing, etc. The world may never know! You may be able to bump the timing up a few degrees and run an unleaded race fuel for some added track POWA. Goodluck!
