Which filter for NX 20920?

Ok I am just about done with the install and the kit I bought did not come with a filter (bought it off of a friend that did not use a filter). I want to put a fliter on it because it is cheap insurance. I have all the goodies, WOT, FPSS, purge, window switch, heater w/ the pressurse transducer, dig 6, tr-6 plugs, walbro 255, etc. so naturally I do not want to skimp on the filter. I was looking at Nitrous Outlet and there are two listed:

Part Number: NX-15607
D-4 Pure-Flo N20 Filter & 7inch Stainless Hose

Part Number: NX-15610
D-6 Pure-Flo N20 Filter & 7 Inch Stainless Hose

They are the same price and have the discription:

-A high quality filter is a must have item for any nitrous system
-If a small piece of trash gets caught in the solenoid it can cause the solenoid to stick being hazardous to your engine
-sizes to fit all brands of nitrous kits

So the question becomes which one and why?
Now I just need the remote bottle opener

The NX 20920 does not come with a filter, because the nitrous solenoid has a built in screen filter on the input side. Look at the input side of your nitrous solenoid. You'll see the screen. A filter is not needed.

It may not be needed, but it can't hurt. I don't think it would be a stuiped item to have. That or I could use the filter when I have the bottle filled. It would then be filtered twice, once going into the bottle, and once at the noids.

It doesn't hurt to have one, but NX stopped supplying the filters with their kits when they started building the filters into the noids.... Also, when they fill your bottle, the nitrous should be filtered. Usually the refill station will have a filter on it. Unfiltered nitrous can do the same damage to a refill pump that it can to a solenoid. I'll bet your nitrous re-filler has a filter.

Go to the LS1 tech nitrous section. NXRicky of NX posts a weekly tech tip and this weeks tip is all about nitrous filters.

NX recommends filters...

Do you have a link? I looked and could not find it. I would like to run a filter so the million dollar question still stands; Which NX filter do I need?

Here's what ricky said about filters (cut and paste),

It is that critical. That is why we put one in all our solenoids. So if its an nx kit then you probably have a filter there and just did not realize it. The smallest piece of trash can stick a noid open. Now the size will dictate how much nitrous gets though. but I have seen a small dot on a piston that kept the thing open. Wipe the dot off and the noid sealed.

You would use the D4 one... Your supply line is 4an... so 15607.

Re: Which filter for NX 20920?

When you've spent all this money and time on your N20 setup...running two filters (one built in the noid and one before the noid) is a redundancy I am willing to take.

Thanks for doing the footwork with that link.

EDIT: Also see this link to his weekly tech tip

P/N 15607 -4 fitler with a 7" -4 line so you can put this back by the bottle, and yuo can take it to the fill station and have them fill through it.

Ricky
