Dyno'd the car on the spray today

Went and caught Hot Rod Power Tour in Shreveport LA and went on down to Dallas with them today. Got to dyno my car too. Had 2 pulls, and didnt even bother dyno'ing on the motor (car is set up for nitrous, runs like crap on motor). I was pretty pleased to say the least. Best 1/4 time is 11.13@123 with a 1.69 short time. I only had about 875psi in the bottle, just like how i run it at the track, but left the air filter in the airbox.

1st pull
421hp @ 5900rpm
483ft-lb @ 4300rpm

2nd pull
418 @ 6100rpm
550 @ 3600rpm

This thing is a Tq MONSTER!

BTW, this thing is PIG rich. A/F was off the scale through the whole run. 17.5 If I could just get a bottle heater on it, and play around with the fuel Im SURE I can get 450rwhp and 575ft-lbs? I hope to pick up a lot more HP with leaning it out a tad. This thing was blowing black smoke out of the exhaust pretty bad! A little tuning here and there and 10s are there!

Kyle

BTW, this is NOT a dyno queen car. Dynoed through a 9in with 3.70 gears and 315 nitto drag radials.

Got me beat on torque too, 518ft lbs with 100 pill, but I only got 303hp so in comparison that aint bad 392ft lbs n/a n 225hp - but thanks for posting your ET too, I'm trying to get some idea what to expect from the Z in my signature, I'm sure I can get that thing into the 9's but my machinist is an arrogant bastard who insists that I'll run 11's and low 10's with a 250 shot... uhmmmm, how does that work?? lol if I dont touch a 9.99 with a 250 shot in a 2800lb back half car, I'm buyin a big block.

Now that I am awake I can post a bit clear'er. A/F was off so bad because they put the damn sniffer in the tail pipe. I have a cutout, where they should have put it. You should have seen the black smoke it was billowing out on the dyno, its running rich. Ive pulled plugs before after runs, and I KNOW its running way rich.

The motor is a 355 unkown compression. Ported heads, comp 230/236 cam ground on a 110lsa. Hookers, 3in y-pipe, cutout. TH400 with 3500 stall, 9in with 3.70s, and a home made 2 stage nitrous kit. 75/100.

rich is of course better than lean, but being so rich that you see black smoke is never doing any good for power output. just step up a size or two on the nitrous jet or down a size on the fuel jet and see how it does

Wow, I would have thought you'd pulled more with the engine setup alone. My 355 pulled 392.4rwhp on motor only. I'm hope to be around 550rwhp with a 150ish shot.

Great ET

My car has always been a pig. Ive only run 12.2@111 on motor with a 1.67 60ft. Compression and headflow are unknown. Car used to have a blower on it, but ran terrible back then. As it sits right now it runs 13.0s on motor due to so much timing pulled out for the nitrous. Its not pretty. It needs a LOT of tuning. I was hoping more for around 450 rwhp, but now I know where my starting point is. Now Ive just got to get it running better.
