Does anyone know what plug gap??

Just put the NX kit on. Have the 150 shot going in. Someone told me I needed to change my plugs and shorten the gap.....

Anyone have any information on this as far as what I should shorten the gap to? Or what kind of plug is the best for the application??

Thanks in advance.

Stay away from plat plug and use a colder plug such as autolite #104, #103, or NGK TR6 gap them around .035-.040. Play with each one to see how the car runs on them. I've used both and autolite seems to be fine for me.

Thanks, I think I will try that. but I would like to try to keep a decent spark for when I am not running the bottle, (which is most of the time). I am thinking about trying those TR6's with a .040-.045 gap. we will see what this does for me.

Thanks for the reply,

T

Ps, I do have a MSD 6BTM on a stock coil and thats why I hope I can keep a bigger gap...

The smaller gap doesnt seem to hurt my drivability although the wider gap could cause misfiring on the spray.

n20ta2:

Thanks for the info. I am trying to keep good gas mileage off the bottle considering I will mostly only use it on the track. Other then that I will be running normal, but I want to be prepared for anything. I dunno, I think I am going to try to keep .045 on the TR6's at first, if that don't work I will drop .005 to .040 and then so on until I find what works.

Thanks for the input, This gives me a starting point for my plug gap experiment.

You should probably start with a smaller gap first then increase it untill your happy. If the gap is to large first time out, the spark could "blow" out; increasing the change for pre-detination.

Yeah, already got that going on. plugs are still at .060. sprayed once with no prob, twice with a little hesitation on top, and third with stumble in through second. decided to stop after that until I replaced plugs and vent crankcase better.

want to start big (.045) to see if it still stumbles, if so, will go smaller, and smaller until no detonation.

Detination is not good, why would you gap big to start ?

Seems to me you should start small, play it save with the motor. Keep opening up the gap as long as you don't get any detination or stumble.

What if you added a half degree or more retard only when spraying ? Then you could keep your big gap and gas mileage, but when you spray you'll have the extra retard to compensate for the gap issue ?

I'm unsure if that would work, but just an idea.

No, I have the 6BTM. it only retards if it sees boost. Not with nitrous. I haven't gotten my turbo on yet so I can't use that to retard timing, yet.
