Can I just empty my cats for a n20 install?

I am getting n20 soon, but one of my friends say I need headers and another says I can just empty my cats. I would prefer the cheaper route right now. I will eventually get headers when I change my cam.

The cats are far less restrictive than the rest of the exhaust system, so you will gain nothing by gutting them. Your car will also stink and pollute unnecessarily. If you install headers, the gain is greater on a SC or nitrous car than an NA setup, so they are a very worthwhile mod, but not a necessity.

BTW: I am close to 800rwhp through cats.

WHOA! 800 horses! Nice. Well I will be getting headers, a cam and a stage II setup of N20. I had a run in with an 2003 M3 and I'm not happy. We were dead even from an 95mph roll. Ran twice up to 130 and dead even.

Maybe I'm missing something. There is nothing about having a stock exhaust system that should make one hesitant to spray. You will gain more hp if you improve the exhaust system when spraying, but there is no reason not to use nitrous with a stock exhaust. None.

I've been told from day one, from many people and experienced shops and shop owners who werent telling me that for their profit that a less restrictive exhaust was a must with n20...

however like i said, it was only my opinion but i still would make headers a mod that i'd do before a big power added like n20..
thats me though

and i'll bet he'll eventually get headers anyways so its all good...

NOS

YOU are gonna NEED the headers sooner OR later

BUT YOU can wait and JUST add the NOS

WHEN you wanna go faster,,,,,just by the headers

BLOWIN out the cats is NOT GONNA help the NOS that much

DO IT RIGHT if ya wanna go FAST

The overall object is to move air in and out of the engine faster. There for having a high flow intake and exhaust helps this of course. Then add N20 and away you go.

When I first got my NX kit I had intake and catback, now I have headers, no cats and WOW.....now I have no traction through the first 3 gears on street tires on the juice
