PS - The 233/242 only pulls to 6200rpms

Shawn keep us posted on your results with that 233/242 114 cam. I have thought quite a bit about that cam but wanted to see some results of it first.
How does it feel compared to some of the other cams you have had?

Well.. I made it to the track on friday. Didn't run as quick as I was hoping to, but after a trip the scales - I think I know part of the problem. LOL
I only managed to make three passes, one of which I had to throw out because the car backfired at the top of first gear for some reason. Does turn out I had a header leak - and the entire gasket material was gone from primaries 4 & 6 when I replaced the gasket yesterday.
Anyways, as far as my runs go.. Uh.. :gulp: My best ET/MPH was a 12.45@112.8mph on my 27x11.50 Hoosier QTP's. My 60' was a crappy 1.88, so it's possible w/ my normal low 1.7's - I would've run in the 12.1 range... I gotta get this car lightened up though. It weighed in at a portly 3720#'s, and that was w/ less than a 1/4 tanks of gas - no spare, jack - or even backseats. I do have a rollbar and SFC's though, so they add some weight. Also ran w/ my ZR1's up front - so that might've added a little rolling resistance - and yet more weight.
Need a little more track time before I shoot myself in the foot for ever replacing my old cam. The main thing I hate is the fact that power drops off sharply after 6200 rpms. When I bought the cam, I was under the impression initially that it would make power to 6800 or so. Which I thought would actually turn out okay so I could stay in each gear a little longer - and in turn pill up more and try to bust off a low 10. Now, w/ shifting at 6200, the shift light came on at the end of the track when I made a pass w/ street tires - and only trapped 113mph Gotta love that!
For comparison's sake.. This cam actually "feels" the same down low compared to my old 230/236 - .598/.608 on a 110lsa.. In fact, their dyno graphs are a spitting image of each other, if you ignore the fact that the 230/236 actually had a much more broad power peak, and made an average of 10 more rwhp, 15 more rwtq. I can attribute a little of that power loss to the fact that I've got some 17x11's out back now.. Versus my old 17x9's.
Hopefully this thing will shine on the dyno, and maybe w/ some fine tuning I can get a little more RPM out of it. I'd sure like to.. LOL..
I'm gonna try and scan my comparison dyno graph to show the difference on the dyno. It's not the highest numbers I was able to pull w/ the 233/242 - but you can at least compare the curves. The only two major changes are the cam and the wheels.

Hmm, not alot of info here for a cam recommendation....
I have a couple of "big" Nitrous LT1 cams, since thats just a subjective term.
I've got a 285/295 and a 274/282 that I no longer need if you're interested.....
