Anyone spraying with alcohol
Wondering who sells a pump (and regulator) that are compatible with alcohol? My system will be a dedicated high pressure ( 45 PSI )return style with in-line pump for a 300 shot. Having trouble finding a pump.
Thanks
Thanks
Alcohol will require ALOT of fuel VOLUME, though I do not know much on the typical Nitrous system tune-Up, as far as jetting and pressures....
You may want to look at Aeromotive's new Belt driven pumps.
I have some more thoughts on this, I''ll post back tomorrow, It's late, and I'm tired. LOL.

Hi Kurtis, I thought you might respond to this post. Thanks for the tips on the fuel cell if it comes out half as nice as yours I'll be happy.
The motor will still run on gas so a pump that supports 700 EFI HP ( on gas )will be sufficient. I did look at the belt pump and called Aeromotive with some questions, but couldn't get any info.
As for the jetting NX is helping me with that they have it pretty well worked out. I would be interested in any thoughts you may have on my little project.
Thanks Brad

I did some initial research into doing this as it sounds GREAT on the surface, given Alcohol running so cool, Its high "Octane" (So to speak), and being relatively cheap to buy. In the end I didn't pursue it much further as I didn't want to "break new ground" and break parts while learning so I went with a tried and true, proven way of doing things.
Alot of this is just hearsay and not my actual experience, but a few things to note:
It is thought that when using two seperate fuels, beit a Gasoline, and Alcohol mix, or a Hi Octane Gas/Low Octane gas mix, that the lower octane fuel (In this case the Gas) will burnt FIRST, leaving you with a low octane rating, until the Alcohol/Higher octane fuel is being burnt.
Bad scenario. To combat this, although I am using a seperate fuel cell, I will be using the same fuel in the Main tank, and my Dedicated Cell.
As said b4, alcohol requires LOTS of fuel. Many of the larger EFI pumps (Weldon, Aeromotive, etc) Should be able supply the volume you need. You stated you had a tough time getting answers on the Belt pump, I know a District Rep that is really on top of his game, that I'm sure could helk you further. I'll try to get ahold of his phone number later on at home.
Alcohol, no matter the type, Methanol, Ethanol, etc is Corrosive (Methanol being much worse than Ethanol). This requires constant flushing/cleaning of the Fuel system using the Alcohol. PITA to say the least. All lines will need to be replaced periodically, and pumps will need rebuilt.
This is the sticky part that seems to be contradictory. Supposedly where you're working with such a large volume of fuel, it will be harder to tune. On the other hand, with alcohol, you supposedly don't need to be dead-on in your tuning as you can be off by a large % of fuel delivery and still have negligible power loss (Being extra rich, Extra Lean still goes KABOOM, just like gas LOL)
This myself I don't know much on, since with more fuel, you have the flexability to fine-tune things more, but then again I've never USED alcohol myself in this sort of application.
I'd really recommend you contact Jon Phillips at Nitrous Express East. He has his ear on the ground as far as what is working and what doesn't in Nitrous Express equipped cars using larger systems. I'd be really curious to see what he has to say. Try him at 888-289-6261.
Good luck!

Hey guys just talked to Jon, he said go for it. He's seen it done with no problems. He did recomend a Dyno tune with an AFM to get the jetting right. He also said it would be cheaper to go low pressure and just as effective. I'm sold on high pressure though and think I have a line on a pump and reg.It may take a while, but I'll post my results.
Thanks Brad
