Anyone ever run 10's on a Stock motor and a 150 shot???
I am just wondering if it can be done I have heads and cam ele. wp and Roller Rockers sitting in my room, but I was thinking if I can run 11.62 the way my car is now (hasnt ran it yet) should I try putting on the wp and rr and get some Weld pro stars Skinnes and 15" slicks.. hook a little better and take off some weight do you guys think I could knock off .65
I have been called crazy before had to prove to some people I could run a 8.3X on motor 8th mile made one pass and hit that then spent the rest of the night on the bottle need to get my 60ft. down some and I think I can run a 8.2X that puts me in the 12's Just wanting some input on if I should just goahead and put on the heads and cam or play with the stock motor for a while longer .. all comments are welcome as long as there freindly

I had a friend who last summer bought a 97 Z with 45,000 miles and he wanted to do a 396 stroker car so he satarted with a 100 shot and went all the way to 200 on a stock motor and ran a best time of 10.87 on an E.T street.....
But I'm sure thats NOT recomended, needless to say he did the new motor alot sooner than he wanted to!

With ALL the bolt on's and weight removed,with a 9" rear,150 shot and stock longblock(even stock TB),i went 11.25@119 with a 1.51 60' on a 150 shot.
I have been debating on going for 10's with the stock longblock and the 150 hit,or maybe a 175.....just not sure what im doing now.

you could definately go some 10s on a stock motor with spray. the question is, how much? personally, i think it would take a little more than a 150, but who knows.
the route im going, i hope to be solid 11s after my stall/gear. depending on where i am exactly, i might throw some headers on and see what she'd do with a 200, but that definately wouldnt be what i normally ran (the shot).
if i can get 11.5s or close to it, that's prolly what i'll do, and as long as the driveline doesnt take a $hit, i think it's very possible to run 10s with that set up.

I only have 8th mile tracks around me to run at unless I drive 2 hours .. So I have to run a7.05 in the 8th =10.98 1/4 I am just going to try for this...I messed up my best run last night I ran a 7.73@82mph but left it in 2nd gear and shot some nice flames out the tail pipes..I think that run would of been a 7.45 going by my 330ft times which was 4.865 my best et of the day was a 7.66 with a 330ft of 5.008 @82.41 mph with a 1.85 60ft time... The reason it was running better it hooked on the last pass.. I sprayed VHT on my tires that stuff is great.. droped it .15 pulled a 1.69 my best 60ft so far... this was the first night the tracked opened so I hope it gets better... my poor 10 bolt is going to hate me..

I'd say it can be done.
There is a local mechanic to me, who put a stock 4-bolt LT1 engine (from a Corvette) in his '88 GTA, and with his fuel setup, runs a... get this... 275HP wet shot (NX) on the stock engine.
I think his best run is 11.2x @ 121.
So, with enough fuel and not too much timing (so as to detonate), you can run a good bit of juice on stock engines. With the right suspension, you should be able to hit 10s.

Does he have a grey bird (badassbird or something like that)I have talked to him before... all I can do is try... I wont be getting there I dont think now I looked at how much money and soo I had to have to get wheels tires and a few other things and the funds are just not here now and the heads and cam are so I might just goahead and put them on .. But I will see how close I can get with a few more bolton's and some programming.. Thanks for all the replys..

but thats a nice mph wat waz your 60ft? and do you have any suspension mods???
