Talking Any predictions what the Love Boat will run on the hose?

My nitrous stuff is on order, hope to have everything within two weeks. I am going with the new NX MAF setup, planning on spraying a 200 shot.

I got all the goodies with it, 15lb bottle, purge, bottle heater, fuel pressure safety switch, remote opener, and a Mallory 685 box with built in window switch and timing retard.

My bottom end is stock, CC306 cam and ARE stage II heads. I make 364 RWHP and 410 RWTQ on motor, car runs 12.1's @111 at 4,100 lbs. I plan to spray between 4,000-6,400 RPM. I have a 4,100 Vigilante and want to make my 4L60 live as long as possible so I don't want to spray at 3K.

I really want to run at least 10.80's, think I can shave 1.4 seconds off with a 200 shot? The car hooks great now, has all the suspension goodies. I nail down 1.6x 60's on nearly every pass.

I will be pulling timing for safety and won't spray the car much. I just want to get some good time slips and have it for when I need it So what are your predictions?

i dont know how long a stock bottom end will last on a 200 hp shot but you could always try and my kit on my dads car dropped 1.4 in the 1/8 with just a 100hp shot

I think with a good, safe tune it will take a 200 shot without issue. I'm more worried about my tranny honestly. SSMOKEM has been spraying a 200 shot on his stock bottom end for over two years now, still together http://www.cadwiz.net/cherrybomb/

well we had to have my dads rebuilt but we needed it anyway cuz the guy who put the shift kit made the tranny burn up but if you get a quality rebuild you will be fine

His Nittos are on backwards .

Good luck keeping the trans together! I would run the high octane fuel when I sprayed that much, just incase!

Hey guys,

I've been running the 200 shot on my stock bottom and 93 octane since Dec of 99, over 3 years I have 160+ runs on the juice since then.

Andy, you have much better heads than I do, so I believe 1.5 seconds is a good goal. I've been getting 1.2 to 1.3 seconds or so.

By the way, I just threw the tires on to take the pictures. Here is the way my tires are on now:

Hey stik6shift98, all the details are on my website.

It's a 4400lb 95 Impala SS with a stock bottom LT1, Comp cam, ported stock iron heads and bolt-ons.

12.78 @ 107.30 NA

The motor will handle it as long as your not experiencing detonantion - the hypercraptics are not very forgiving though.

piston

Unfortunately, the additional 300(+)lbs of torque is going to kill your tranny - probably within a season. Start looking now for alternatives unless you want to go through the tranny every 6 months to a year. Been there, done that... George, seeing that you're also running a TH400, sounds like you may have been there too.

Yeah I'm not gonna push it too far, gonna pull plenty of timing and keep it on the rich side. Don't want to blow anything up.

I am concerned about the tranny. I had a bulletproof rebuild about 3 years and 9,000 miles ago. Still going strong. I don't expect it to last too long on the spray, it will be on the dyno before the track just too see how it's going to take it. I really want to stick with the 4l60E though, can't lose my overdrive. It does suck shelling out $2K for a good rebuild though

Thanks for the info George, I am really excited. I have been in the 12's for a long time now, I think I want to skip the 11's all together

When it comes to a big nitrous shot, I dont think there is any such thing as a bulletproof rebuild on a 4L60 - just too much torque. I went through 2 supposed "bulletproof" rebuilds on mine. By the time it was over I had over $4000.00 invested between the 2 tranny rebuilds, (which included a new valve body and the 2 convertors), only to once again have a tranny that was dead.

From what I've heard the 4L80E can make a good alternative if you want to keep the overdrive. So would a TH400 and Gear Vendor overdrive. If I wouldnt have dumped all that money in my 4l60, I could have easily afforded a TH400 with Gear Vendor overdrive, and still saved some large cash... Oh well, that's hindsight...

Hey speedmiser,

I spent 2800 on my 4L60E before I gave up. As you said, coulda paid for the Gear Vendors!!
If I'm playin, I'm sprayin
As we say in Florida: "If you ain't sprayin', you ain't racin'...."

Andy, I hope it's a 2 stage or progressive, otherwise forget about any kind of decent 60" times with a 200 shot off the line!! I spray 120 off the line, and an 80 shot five tenths later. I still have NEVER hooked on the juice. Best of 1.67 with lots of spinning from 20' out to past the 60' mark.
