Wait why use the MSD harness instead of the Mallory one? Is there a difference, what am I missing?

That Mallory would also work. Actually...it would probably be even easier than the MSD as the wires are color cordinated exactly the same as the 685 box. You could just match up the wires and go. MSD harnesses are cordinated to work with MSD boxes. Both will work though.

Yes I know that the Mallory will work. I was just confused as to why someone with a Mallory box would want an MSD harness. I thought there was a secret here. Then 2000GTP says that Mallory doesn't make one, so then I was really confused .

I was looking at the connections for both, and they're the same, but again the colors on the Mallory harness coordinate with the Mallory box.

At the time where myself and others were installing these boxes, there was not an available Mallory harness to hook this box up. If that is a newly released item, then I guess the situation has been solved. Also, it looks like they just have a listing for the dual connector ignition which will only cater to 93-95 cars.

Yea I asked about the MSD one because I didn't know Mallory carried one for our cars. It looks like it is a brand new part according to Jegs.

Yeah, you would have thought that with all of the LTx owners who have purchased Mallory boxes, they would have made harnesses alot sooner other then lose that extra business to their competitor.

The price doesn't seem out of line, its only 30 bucks. That is what a MSD harness would cost.

I couldn't find the mallory 685 box on the jegs website so I checked summit. They have the mallory adapter for $35.99 or so and the MSD of $28.88

It's actually 1$ more than the MSD. But I would pay the extra $1 just because the colors of the wires match the Mallory box and I don't have to pull out the DMM.
