75 camaro project question
75 camaro project question
Well, the 75 is being put under construction as we just ordered the 383 stroker kit. My question is would we be better off getting a turbo system, or 2 stage nitrous? and if the nitrous is best, how much per stage? 100+200? And what precautions should we take before ordering/installing?
RIght now it's a 350/TH350 set up. We are hoping for Muncie 9" rear end, tubbed out, coil-overs, 383 stroker, etc. Same tranny though

Re: 75 camaro project question
With THAT specific combination, especially considering the THM350 (a far better tranny than it is usually given credit for, but still...), I would want my "extra" horsepower to come on in a progressive manner.
The reason is; the faster the engine is spinning, the less stress it's under at a particular power level. That has to do with the nature of what HP/TQ is and how it relates to RPM, but don't get too hung up on it.
For forced induction, that means a centrifugal supercharger, not a turbo or roots. For nitrous, that means a progressive system, or at least a multi-stage system.
Oh and, use a high quality tranny fluid like Amsoil and a GOOD cooler. More transmissions fail due to poor fluid or high heat than anything else.

Re: 75 camaro project question
We're not planning on breaking 7's with this or anything. We want something that's fast, not stree-legal that we only have to put a stroker kit into rather than a whole new motor. Cause we have a 350c.i. crate motor in now with only 12,000 miles on it and same on the tranny. No point in wasting something that new. Maybe just bullet-proof the tranny?

The THM350 is a much better tranny than most people realize. It's just that it always gets compared to the THM400, and that ain't fair.
Do a good rebuild using quality parts, use a GOOD converter like an Edge or a Yank and don't forget the synthetic fluid and tranny cooler.
