Hi everyone!

My name is Ed,
I just came into a '96 Z28 Ragtop.
Unfortunatly a distant Family member passed away and the car was the final part of their estate. So I got it for a whopping $1712.00 Pretty good deal huh! but the insurance is killing me.
But the first time I hit the gas I realized it was worth it.
Well anyway I hope sometime soon there is a local meet so I can meet some people and get some mod Ideas. Im having trouble distributing funds between the new camaro and my very long term 72 hurst olds project.

I had one question about this "optispark" thing. Is it something I can replace now before it dies with an inexpensive aftermarket thing or do I wait for it to die and then tow to the dealer??

Thanks in advance!

Welcome! Nobody makes an inexpensive opti yet. There is one company coming out with one but it is more than a stock replacement, so for the time being we are stock with stock opti's. If it ain't broke don't fix it. It more than likely won't leave you stranded, so just wait until it starts acting up.

welcome......

yeah the car tells you 90% of the time when it's going to break down. I ignored the signs and my fuel pump died, good thing I was only 10 mins from home.

Welcome to the club. How many miles are on the car? If your going to replace the opti, it would be a good time to closely inspect the water pump too. There is a rubber seal that can leak.
