Question How is life in San Diego?

Hello folks.

I'm really wanting to visit the west coast sometime in the near future and San Diego is one of the places I'd really like to see. I've heard nothing but great things about it, like the beautiful weather and all the landscaping, etc. What's it like to actually live there as well? Can anyone compare it to Austin for me?

Thanks

San Diego is a nice place to visit for a vaction. As for living here the cost of living has gone up so much in the pass 3 years, smog laws suck, and now there thinking to raising DMV fees up 3x the already high cost about $100 to reg your car a year. I say you need a job to just to stay with the cost of living here. Now San Diego is great as in the weather, views, food, beaches, parks, night clubs, bars, if your single it's the place to meet people, boating.

Too many people? It's not THAT big. Metro population of 3,000,000. That's about half the population of Dallas/Ft. Worth. Not too bad at all.

Ah well, I've decided that I have to visit at least

San Diego has great weather, read no seasons. You will forget what time of year it is here. Real estate is some of the most expensive in the country. Local news showed a buyer with a 900 sqft house built in the 50s for 380K and was happy to get it.

Beaches are plentiful. Lots of culture. There's the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, 2 pro sport franchises. I hear the night life is pretty good here, but I wouldn't know personally.

San Diego is in Cali, so Cali smog laws apply. Forget long tubes, radical cams, and most if not all after market heads!

Due to some street racing deaths of innocent bystanders, local authorities have declared war on the street racing scene. Not that I blame them, street racers show very little regard for public safety. You can be arrested for watching a street race and have your car inspected and impounded.

Great place for a vacation, beaches, plenty of things to do.

Living hear is expensive, and the highways are crowded.

I love living here. I miss Texas occasionally though (maybe that's why I'm here for a week lol). It always seems as if it's the same temperature. There's a lot to see here, in fact I haven't seen 2/3rd's of the stuff here yet & I've been here for 6 months already. I don't care what anyone says though, I'm gonna bring my camaro out here anyways, just with Texas plates. lol Just gotta finish getting the heads from AFR.

san diego is an awesome place in my opinion. we have all different types of terrain within a 2 hour drive...from going 2 the coast to the valley to the mountains to the desert...i just drove out to octillo for fun the other day, 110 degrees out there! but in a hour and 1/2 i was back on the coast in the the 70's, quite a drastic change. im 17 and still in high school so luckily i dont have to worry about real estate buying and what not but my dad does some of that work and i know its not cheap. i would recommend visiting Pacific Beach/Misson Beach during the day...downtown SD can be fun during the night. if you like Mexico, it's only about 20 mins or so from downtown SD. if your into the tourist stuff we have Sea World, San Diego ZOO, Balboa Park and the Wild Animal Park. if you want to see some upclass areas of San Diego check out La Jolla (my hometown ) and also Rancho Santa Fe is nice. tell us what you think when you get back and enjoy yourself.
