I'm considering moving out that way. So how are the jobs right now in the Computer, IT/IS kind of industry? I looked around a little on monster.com, but nothing that caught my eye too much.

I think they are more for people that have degrees and such. For me i came here knowing nothing and I just landed a job by luck. If you are looking for a specific job you might want to drive around a little and see what you can find. I might say there are alot here but not any real great ones that will make you retire early with out a degree or certificate. You should also try city jobs or UPS. They always have killer benefits. The Tech sector is coming back, it just took a hit pretty bad. Phx should be one of the top runners for IT/IS positions in the next 2-3 years.

but, until then it blows. My company put out a position for a Helpdesk position about 8 months ago and over 500 people put in for it.

But, out of those 500 only 200 even knew what the position was and out of those 200 only 50 had any Experience in the helpdesk field and out of those 50 only 5 had good transportation.

One guy lied he had a scooter (Working in this area is no bueno)

so out of 500 apps 4 people had the correct qulifications.


So, I wouldn't really say it's that bad, just alot of people trying to get lucky. If you have a solid background and know what your doing, you will get a job here. Just may take some time.
