gas
I hope these oil tycoons go staight to hell, with two 50 gallon barrels of oil tied to thier bodies with big ropes. It's pretty sad when you have to use descretional income(beer money ect.) to buy gas.My02
The increase in gas is definately puching me closer to buying a bike in the near future....they arent the safest, but they get alot better mpg than my bird. Plus in AZ you can ride it 330 days outta the year

OPEC does not raise thier prices that often, and when OPEC drops thier prices it takes months before it's reflected at the pump unlike the immediate rise.
If enough people in enough states were to write thier elected representatives and let them know that you think they should do something about this,or they don't get your vote, then come election time go out and VOTE then maybe there is still hope.
Without sounding to patriotic, just remember ,"By the people ,for the people."

One of the reasons given for the higher gas prices in California is a lack of competitive suppliers. As these oil corporations continue to absorb each other, it will be easier for them manipulate the prices.
Right after the first persian gulf war, there was an investigation into possible gas price gouging by the oil corporations. Price of gas went up to an astounding 1.5X for premium in my town. What I would give to pay that today. No evidence of price gouging was found. Politicians can only do so much to control product prices in a democratic society with a capitalist economic system.
The truth is gas prices have been fairly stable for a long time. Now we have become comfortable with low MPG SUVs and trucks (our F-bodies do better than SUVs.) When OPEC got back together it was only a matter of time before prices would rise. Now prices are going up and everyone seems to be driving a SUV or truck which burns gas like it's going out of style. Which is a pleasant thought.
When gas gets expensive enough alternatives will become cost affective. Imagine everyone driving around in hybrids, or AFVs. Then we can tell the mid-east "go away we don't need you anymore"
In the mean time, I may be thinking hybrid or four cylinders for my next car (My Z28 will be around for awhile). Does anyone drive a Prius? How do they like it?

Let's see if we can get a GP started.
Apparently the oil companies if simply put into numbers, 6 out of the 13 are "out of order", and have "faulty machinery", and as of now, "need to be repaired". The remaining 7 are still producing oil (fossil fuels), but not at the speed at which the market is "rising".

I'll be quiet if they give v8 drivers a discount.

Just my .02

That bites!
However, in my area it has held at $2.39 for premium for the last week. But that was as of last night. We all know it takes about 10 minutes for the price change (time it takes to change the sign).

It's going to go up to $3 ,and that's for regular. Every week it is a differant excuse,
First excuse ) low on heating oil in the east.
Second excuse ) reformulating for summer.
Third excuse ) too many refineries off line .
Fourth (newest) excuse ) low supply of crude oil.
Yeah, right! Give me a break, what's next Ala Baba pissed in it or a camel dumped in it , HORSE PUCKY!
as hell!
