That depends mostly on the cam you use. Many people have passed the sniffer with a heads and cam package. Depends also on how well it's tuned.

I just passed with ported heads and an LT4 HOT cam. So have many other people. I dont think you'll have a problem with it.

Digging up a relic here but I need to know if I can pass smog with fully ported LT1 heads and a cc305. I am thinking about getting a custom grind cam and need to know if anyone has passed smog with something bigger than the 305. Any and all smog feedback will be appreciated though.

Some have passed with a 305 and 502... Seems to be the threshold though. It's all about overlap... try to keep the overlap modest and take it easy on the duration. Some on this board go crazy when it comes to duration. It may not match their set up. Try to download a Dynamic Compression Ratio Calculator from the web. Do a search, it's free and will help you understand how far you can go.

Thanks for the help Wild1, much appreciated! If anyone else has had any smog experiences I would love to hear it.
