Don't live up there but some of my close friends do. They live in Ontanogon(sp). All there is to do up there is drink and screw. His little town has like 15 bars in it lol. I used to go up there all the time camping and stuff but haven't in awhile. As stated in another post I just bought my second snowmobile so I'm gonna be on a sled up there atleast a few times this coming winter, that's for sure. How's the weather right now btw?

Not a thing...I guess I was just stating the obvious. That's why I like to go and visit as often as I can. My two favorite past times.

My Mom grew up in Ishpeming. I have spent alot of time up there also. Mostly in winter snowmobiling in Marquette.

I remember smelting being big up there. Where are the good places and what time of year and what do you need to do it?

My uncle and his wife live in Chatham....nice area. I think he used to work in Iron Mountain(or maybe it was Iron River or something?) He also lived in Crystal Falls for a bit. He's been all over working with the DNR as a forester. I like it up there, aside from the 55mph speed limits all over the place.

smelting isn't nearly as big as it used to be. for some reason they just stoped running like they used to. my opinon is cuz the lake is so low but with it on the rebound maybe it will recover, but best times are usually early spring already come and gone for this year...
