WTB: LT1 Short Block, Michigan Area
WTB: LT1 Short Block, Michigan Area
I'm looking for a stock bore, rebuildable LT1 short block in the Michigan area. As long as it can be rebuilt, I don't care if it has a spun bearing or a rod knock. If it needs to be sleeved, I'm not interested. Post up what you have and how much you want for it. I'm willing to pick it up or meet somewhere half way between. Thanks!
Re: WTB: LT1 Short Block, Michigan Area
Check craigs list, i have seen someplace in detroit with LT1's for like $200, probably out of Impala's, but if you just want the short block, then the iron heads won't matter.
Re: WTB: LT1 Short Block, Michigan Area
oooh oohh!! I have TWO!
1 is a complete longblock out of a 94 formula, just pulled it. Intake was removed to gain some clearance while removing, other than that it hasnt been opened.
The other is a freshly machined .040 over monster, with a splayed 4 bolt main conversion. Never even been assembled, it just sits in the garage. It's ready to go, and I baste it in oil every so often so it looks like it was machined yesterday.

I want $700 obo for the block, and that comes with a freshly turned/machined stock GM crank, the 4 bolt caps, ARP studs. You'll pay that much for the caps and machinework alone. Block also has new cam bearings and new freeze plugs installed.
If you want to get your own block machined but want something complete, you can have the complete running LT1 from tb to oil pan including rails and injectors for $600. Let me know if you're interested, this is all located in Livonia.
Complete LT1 came from a friends car, we pulled it and were gonna build the other block up for it, but we lost interest and are going another route.

I sure would, knock $100 bucks off? The only thing you would need to do in this case is to clearance around the oil pan area for the longer throw. Otherwise, this block is good to go!
Really weird question, but does it have the oil pressure check ball installed in the passage in the back of the block? I have had a hell of a time finding those things before. Not a huge deal, just wondering.
Also, who did the machine work?

Haha, I'll have to get back to you on the check ball. A place called chucks engine service in plymouth did all the machine work, I've been going there for years and my father's been going there years before me. Always happy with the results, you're welcome to come look at it if you like.
Yeah, I'm off for a week, I just got home from a 2 month business trip and I told my office I wasn't going to do **** for a week when I got back, let me know when is good for you. Engine is in my friends garage, Merriman and I-96 area.
Hey Briton, sorry I never returned your call, it got kinda late and I have a thing against calling people I don't know that well after 9. I can call you in the morning though, or you can call me. Still free tomorrow night though.
