WTB: 2005 - 2006 Chevy Avalanche 4x4 with towing package, less than 50K miles

I'm looking for a replacement for my Grand Cherokee, and Laura really likes the look of the Avalanche. Since I'm a car guy it warms my heart to see my wife excited about a vehicle so I'm all for it if it makes her happy!

What I'm looking for is a 2005 - 2006 Avalanche 4x4 with towing package and less than 50,000 miles for a price of $13,500 to $16,000. That's lower than what the dealers are asking, I know. However if you see one on a lot that's been sitting around and you think the dealership might want to deal, please let me know about it. I've got a couple of them in southern Michigan to check out later this week, so I don't think I'm lowballing too much, especially if I offer cash.

Thanks,

-Dan

Not sure if it specs out, but it's close. The miles are little more than you like and the towing pkg. isn't specified. That package is prolly just a hitch and 2 coolers... you could add those to a great buy:

Here's another:

Ugg, the plastic panels:

Another wit a few more miles:

More plastic, but a 3/4 tonner:

Higher miles:

BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:

Close to home:

Plastic fantastic:

Miles, but the right color:

I'm tired of cutting and pasting; you can go to cars.com and search yourself. They show 192, but many are older than '05.

You are welcome!

Your truck is tempting, Milo and if it were up to me, I'd be over to check it out personally. However my wife w~a~n~t~s an avalanche, and it's the first time she's ever even discussed the possibility of owning a truck-like vehicle. I told her about your F250 when you first put it up but she has zero interest in anything else.

So... did any of my leads light her fire?

Damn that sucks.
What if we work out a price... women love to buy things "on sale".

I've got a 2006 Ave out in front of the house right now on loan from Shaheen Chevy. 55,000 miles, with Nav system and 2LT Z71 package. It's a pretty nice vehicle, though there is a funny shake when you hit potholes on the rotting sideroads of Ingham county. I just don't know if the shake is endemic to the design or specific to this Ave.

It's there for Laura to check out in the morning, then we head back to Shaheen to see what kind of deal they want to make. The kids sure like it, 'cause it's got buttons, sunroof, and a touch screen. Me, well, about the biggest jazzy things for me are the grey leather seats the hip room, and the Bose stereo system, which sounds better than any other vehicle I've had before. I'm not too sure about the nav system - It takes some sort of CD, or DVD or something which I couldn't find. I've got to get to the bottom of the shake by driving a different one first, before I offer anything on it though.

Oh, and this 5.3L LS3 is one hot motor, isn't it? It sure makes some nice RRRRevin' when you get on it!

[Edit:] We gave it back this afternoon, as we couldn't agree on price. However we're patient & you shouldn't buy the first one you look at, anyway![/edit]

Buyers are in the driver's seat these days, Dan. Hold out for your best deal.

I think I might have found one. We test drove it today. It's a private seller from downstate. A 2006 Ave 4x4 with 32,000 miles. Everything was great, until the transmission started to slip. I had to give it back to them and tell 'em "Sorry". I then told them I'd buy it, and to call me after the dealership services the transmission under warranty. I climbed under and there's something leaking: either a trans pan gasket or the oil pump seal, and the transmision fluid was down a couple quarts. Other than that, the car was tight and perfect in all other ways. Hopefully it's an easy fix, but they need to bring me a dealer statement of work and not just a full transmission and a powerwashed underside!

hey dan let me know the vin and I can look it up at work to make sure the trans gets rebuilt. once the dealership submits the work to GM, it goes into the VIS. and I can see all warranty work thats performed. but Im sure whoever the tech is will be glad to overhaul the trans. cause those jobs usually pay alot, and the trans guys are very fast at it. or I could have my trans guy do it and go through it completly the right way. but ofcourse you know how far away I am. lol. it doesnt matter who owns the car, if its in warranty, its covered.

Thanks, Chris! That's really great to know!

Here's the VIN: 3GNEK12Z86G200430

2006 Chevy Avalanche 4X4. I just got word that it's now at the dealership for inspection and they are going to go at it tomorrow. It's in Coldwater.

Let me know if you discover anything!
