actually back spacing is the total distance from the mounting surface to the rear lip of the rim, the offset is the positive or negative distance from the center of the rim. I am worried that they may not look right on the car, IE stick out too far.

Ya... well if you have the wrong offset wheel its not going to have the right look on the vehicle. The backspacing just has the size of the lip added into the #. If your that close than the rim will never if cause just about all tires bulg a little when installed.
Regardless, a 45mm offset will be fine. Thats what I have on my car. They sit in 10mm farther than stock SS wheels.

Yeah I actually surfed the net for some 98+'s with v1's and i emailed them for what offset they had, and if they had any problems at all, 45 offset was the answer, and no was the other. I've always wanted these rims since i saw a camaro parked in the bell tire hockey rink with them on, pictures don't do them any justice.
