Where is a nice romantic place to go in Mi for the weekend?

My girlfriend has cabin fever, and for the last 2 months, every weekend is either spend with her parents, or mine. We currently don't seem to have any time for ourselves. She wants to get away and do some "us" time.

I'd like to try and plan something with a train ride/mystery type thing for a dinner - just an idea. Just something fun, and out of the way.

We are in Greenville Mi, but I'll drive a few hours for something. We do have plans to take a big vacation, but for now, I want to stay somewhat local (5-6 hour drive).

Something that's a small quite plance - any suggestions?

Thanks Brandon. What else is there to do there, as I've never been? I don't just want a hotel stay, but something fun for a night. I'm thinking like taking Friday off, sleep in on Saturday and have a fun Saturday night. Sleep in on Sunday and drive home.

That's why I was thinking the Train show, type thing.

Downtown t.c has alot of nice pubs/breweries. A lady I work with was just raving about a new fish house on the bay. One of my favorite restaurants in mich is in t.c. It is called north peak brewery. They have great food and atmosphere.

I was just thinking more and came up with Mackinac City. They have nice hotels/shops/restaurants/bars. One great place is the dixie saloon. I love that rest/bar.

Or look online for bed and breakfasts, should be able to find some nice ones up north a little ways, hell even T.C. but the quiet and quaint feel of a B&B is always nicer than a hotel, even a nice one.

frankenmuth is always a good choice. Awesome hotels, nice place, feels like you've left the country. Some good food, a couple of breweries which are pretty good. Few things to do there, def. nice for a quick getaway. Do a search on frankenmuth. There is a site that shows all the hotels and restaurants, etc... I forgot the address to the site though.

I live 10 minutes from Frankenmuth and you can do better. Their best brewery just went under(frankenmuth brewery) leaving them with only one lame brewery(black forest). They have some small stores if you wanna walk all day.

Sent you a PM.

Frankenmuth is no good if you want romance. If you want to shop, it and nearby Birch Run are decent.

In Walled Lake, next to Novi, they have a train ride/dinner. I think you can sleep on it now also. It only goes a few miles back and forth though. You could do the dinner on the train and get a hotel in Novi.
Or My Wife and I just spent the weekend at Boyne Mtn. Didn't ski but had a nice relaxing weekend!

Thanks for all the suggestions guys (and the PM's). However, since posting this, I've found out that she now has some required overtime at her work. This means she'll be working 9 hour days - and Saturdays. So, we may not get the break we want for another few months.

But I this will help me plan something a bit better with all the links/suggestion that were sent my way.

Thanks again all,
Milo.
