Unhappy tranny help

the tranny in my winter beater died, so i pulled it out this morning, rebuilt it, and put it back in. I bought an overhaul kit, new TC, and new pump. I put it together extremly carefully, checking the specs as i went. I thought i followed the manual perfectly.......well i guess i didnt

Reverse works perfect, but none of the forward gears work at all. Its a Ford c5 tranny, 3 spd auto. a guy at the shop said that i got something stuck in the valve body. does this sound likely? I did not take the valve body apart, since this is my first auto tranny rebuild, and i was intimidated by the valve body

i readjusted the intemediate band, but it made no difference. the tranny fluid level is right.

am i missing something obvious?
anyone have any ideas?

in the front pump check to make sure the boost valve is in place. I don't have experience on the ford transmissions, but on the chevy there i a valve that goes up intot he pump fromt he button that is held in place by a circlip. If you have no forward motion at all, that means you are getting no hydraulic pressure ot the forward drums. The valve body pretty much programs your shifts, but I would still look at it secondarily for any valves not in place.

Make sure all your clutches and steels are in correctly (alternating), etc

thanks

im going to take the valve body out in the morning, and see if it helps after it is cleaned. i dont want to pull the tranny again if i dont have to. the ford enginering sucks, and is a huge pita to pull the tranny

somehow i think i will end up pulling it out again though
