Wink Surgery went well, the Red Rag is gonna make it

Started at 9am, and was done at 5pm on the dot. Jacked it up and put steel wheels under the rear tires, and started unhooking everything from the tranny forward. Then put a wheeled dolly/cart under the engine, and a jack under the tranny and let the car down onto both of them. Unbolted the K-member, and hooked a engine hoist to the strut brace via a strap. Jacked it up, stopping from time to time to make sure everything was going to clear. Once the car was high enough, I rolled the drivetrain out and let the car back down. Very slick, I like doing it that way. Only things I pulled off were the fuel rail becuase the damn lines are a PITA, and the alternator and starter because I had to get to the wiring and they were in the way. The rest of it cam out on the motor, headers and all. Dropping the engine off at my engine builder tomorrow, and the 3 speed tranny is already at the builder. Figure I can use the 4L60E as a boat anchor I am also keeping all the junk I pull off so I can weight it in the spring and see how much CRAP is really on the cars weighting them down. Now if I can only convince ChrisJa to show me how to polish the fuel rails. Once the engine is off the K-member, I will bolt it back up so the car can roll and its getting trailered to my buddys body shop. Gonna clean the engine well and spray it the same color as the body and give it a coat of clear. Should look good, and run pretty ok come spring BTW, glad some of you guys showed up

No prob man! I think my friends couch has a permanent ***-groove from all the football watching this weekend. I got there for the kickoff of the Michigan game, watched the Ohio State game after that, then Florida, and then off to Ucellos for the ND-Air Force game. Get up this morning and head back over there for the Lions game, and then the Packers game.

<office space> I did nothing all weekend, and it was everything I thought it could be. </office space>

Glad to hear everything went well.

Dreamer you are more than welcome to come by with the parts and I will show you how to do them. Just keep in mind it takes time to get them to really shine.

I have all winter buddy. Motor is suspose to be done by christmas. After that it is just a matter of picking up the new pieces I need like waterpump, throttle body...bla bla bla. How long will polishing last under the hood. Is it something I am going to have to redo alot? I was thinking the fuel rails, and machined lines on the intake. Maybe a few other small parts, but mostly just a little eye candy. I might have to plan on a trip to that side of the state this winter to learn from the master

Q man, Glad to hear it went well... I have never heard of anyone pulling the motor out from UNDER the car before. Now come on tell us.... what is really going back in there??

My little saturday project went well. I changed plugs in the bonneville in about 30 minutes, did wires also, changed that dang blower motor ( I HAVE HEAT WOHOOOO!!!!!!), and charged 'er up. She started! Now I just have to reinflate the tires and see if it needs a brake job. Thats gonna be another small fortune..

Buena Suerte with the motor project. I am gonna try to do a little top end warm over this winter to see if I can still be ahead of the red rag at the end of the 1/4

Let me know when your ready for that heated garage Brad. We can work the upper end of that Roc over real good Glad the Bonnie is keepin ya warm. Let me know before you buy anything for it, I might be able to save you a few bills on that old girl. As for the engine in my vert....I have systematically (sp?) announced about 6 different combinations that I was "going to do" this winter. That should keep everyone guessing till spring All I know is that POS cutlass that kicked my butt by 1 tenth of a second at Martin is NEVER going to beat me again

hehehe

That Cutlass really got your goat eh?

Well, you have seen my setup in action. Basically my motor is an LT1 with crappy flowing heads and intake but with a decent cam. Just with your intake setup alone on my motor I could have seen some low 13's. You should see high 12's if you put things together right. And it will still be a daily driver.

Nice nice. I'll get back to you on parts. But as a preliminary. Could you get me some Aluminum L98 heads off a 91? That was the last year of the L98 before the changeover to LT1. What can ya do for me brother Quentin?

Ohh as for Deer hunting this weekend. It was windy as hell and we sat out for about 3 hours. My brother saw 1 and myself and Kevin got skunked... didn't see a damn thing. Maybe next weekend will prove better.

Dude, say the word. When you are ready to get those heads, you let me know. I will have a set in under a week! Plus I called the guy I know locally who does porting. He is suspose to get back with me this week. He also does the heads for Jimmer. Remember Jimmer? He was the guy with the 67 GTO that runs high 7's Guy knows what he is doing, and use to work with me. I never knew he could do this, so we should get a good deal. I do know where the is a good deal on a 12 bolt for your car. Loaded and everything, your choice of a spool or posi and it will be rebuild. 1200 bucks. Been finding all kinds of good stuff since I started to do my engine. Everyfew dollars helps, and I am spending way to many dollars this year. Can't even tell the wife about all of it.

Quentin get me a price on the heads and I'll tell you when I can commit. If the price is right you have a buyer. But I am not gonna buy a set of heads for what GM charges for a new set. Thats expensive as hell for a set of heads designed for a motor thats over a decade old.

Gimme a price, maybe we could go grab a bite to eat one of these days on our lunch brakes.

Call me tomorrow about the heads if you remember.

Sure thing Skip. As soon as I get a free weekend I can do it. I have my boy three weekends a month. So you would have to wait till the third weekend of a month to do it. MMMmmmm deep fried turkey is my favorite. I can even bring my special tranny jack. It is awesome for those jobs.
