Car would be nice to mod except for the hacked in t-tops!
I also like manual everything. Oh...it's back today because the rear hatch will not close.

True story here: Back in '92 the GM engineers took a hard top third-gen test mule that was outfitted with the pre-production LT1 powertrain and outfitted it with strain gages on the body to test stress. After they had completed their testing but before they scrapped the car, they got out a saber saw and cut out the roof section to simulate T-tops, then re-ran part of the test. The strain gages showed negligble increases in strain across the body.

What this indicates is that T-tops do NOT significantly compromise the stiffness (or lack thereof) of a standard body F-body.

What I do know though, is that the installation of subframe connectors and a S&W 8-point roll bar have stiffened the chassis of my T-top equipped F-body by an incredible amount. I recently jacked up the whole side of the car with one jacking point, and could still open & close the doors.

I'd contend that the lightweight Camaro, when equipped with SFCs and an 8-point roll bar would be a nice base performance package, even with hacked-in T-tops.

Hacked T-Tops? V6 guys have been "hacking in" their own T-Tops for a LONG time now. The roof is no more than plastic/fiberglass with the center support bar. Atleast, thats how it is on 4th gens. 3rd gens are very similar. Atleast, thats how I remember my 91 Formula WS6
