Exclamation Some preliminary M9 info...

I have a few free minutes to mention a few cool things about M9...

Event Web Address
First thing's first. You can always find the latest M Event info at http://www.migmevent.com. [EDIT 4/11/03 - M9 site is now online]

Hitting the ground running...
I usually start setting up for this event in early/mid (or even late ) summer. Now that I am getting prepared MUCH earlier in the year, there will be more time to make sure that this M event is the very best one yet.

Buybacks will be back!
Last year due to popular demand, I made buybacks into the eliminations available, and from the feedback I received, everyone liked the idea. We will definitely do that again.

Dyno?
There is a good chance we will have a dyno available at the event for those who wish to do dyno runs. Details are sketchy, but the chances are much better than previous years. More info when this comes along.

Track Photo Merchandise
At the Nationals event, a nice guy named Kevin Pepera offered a cool service where they took pics of cars on the starting line and can transfer them to t-shirts, mugs, etc. right on the spot. I put a phone call in to get him at M9 (he could not make M8 due to a scheduling conflict).

M9 DVD?
Due to the tremendous success and praise over the Nationals Event DVD, Dan Burke and I are kicking around the idea of making a DVD with M9 footage. It will be similar in nature to the Nationals DVD, but with better footage quality (due to better cameras) and more in-car footage, etc.

Club Participation Award
Michigan Speed kicked butt when it came to the club participation award. I would like to see more competition in this regard. I will be inviting more clubs out this year, so if you are involved in a club be sure to bring this up. I'd really like to see a decent club rumble at M9! If club presidents or event officials would like to get in touch with me directly, feel free.

Magazine Coverage
M8 was covered in a nice one-pager in S3 Magazine, and Barry Kluczyk from Primedia was there but I am not sure if he managed to get the event mentioned in any other magazines. Regardless, we are expecting S3 to be there again for M9, along with the possibility of someone from GMHTP also covering M9. You'll hear all about it if I manage to find out anything more.

CA$H PAYOUTS!
Some people still don't know that the M events has cash payouts to event winners. The more people attend, the better the payouts. If you talk to someone about the event, be sure to mention this to give them incentive to show up.

Event Stickers
For M7 I had some little "M7" event logo stickers made up. I didn't get much feedback about them so I didn't have anything like that made for M8 because I didn't think anyone cared all that much for them. However, at M8 was when I got feedback about the M7 stickers. It turns out, people liked them a lot and stuck them on their cars, daily drivers, toolboxes, skateboards, pets, local police officers, etc. So, I will be making some M9 stickers to give out to the participants. You can the M9 logo at the M9 web site (again, which is not quite complete yet) here:
http://www.migmevent.com

Raffle
I plan to raffle off more goodies at M9. We had a lot to give aaway at M8, and I want to give even more away at M9.

Event Flyer
You can download the event flyer at
http://www.migmevent.com/m9/m9flyer.doc
Feel free to print a few out and post them/hand them out wherever appropriate.

That's what is rolling around in my head so far. I would very much like to hear some thoughts and feedback on what I posted here, along with any other concerns not yet addressed.

Oh man...I have a feeling M9 is going to really put the previous M Events to shame...

YEAH!! I'm planning on coming there though I probably wont be racing the T/A, unless a miracle happens, like someone loaning me a bunch of time and money...

However, I have some pretty good inside information that says there will be some seriously fast cars there this year for the Quick 16 class. I'd expect that you'll be having to run deep into the 10's to secure a spot in the Quick16 class.

In addition, I got one of the new cameras on order, at the expense of my car money yet again... I need another $2000 to finish off the updated in-car video systems and buy the new editing software. Sheesh this stuff is expensive! However, the M9 DVD should take much less time to produce than the Nationals DVD, and look better to boot! I have some new ideas that NO ONE has ever tried before!

I just downloaded it: It took an hour because I still live with dialup. I'll be looking at it when I go offline later tonight! Thanks for the tip

[Wednesday morning: Unbelieveable video! Highly illegal Content aside, the transitions are very good! I can tell that I have my work cut out if I want to match that kind of action in a more 'legal'forum.

Can we have a burnout contest at MMM for M9? How about some fender-to-fender street racing at Gingerman Raceway or Waterford Hills? ]

Club Participation Award...

Motown Muscle will make sure we have a much better participation this year. We are scheduling our Fall race events around the M event which is the series that brought most of us together in the club.

We'll have to see what we can come up with for the car club challenges during the TnT rounds. Perhaps we can make a trophy from the empties from the night before the event. Does anyone know how to weld aluminum???

Seriously though, we are all looking forward to at the M event and the return of Johny Knoxville and the Viagra car.

Anyone notice the flyers don't indicate what time the event is?

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 12:11 PM.
