So give me some info on your fav. drag strip?

Plan on going a lot this year and was just wondering which was your frequent spot and which you like the most. Looking for things you've noticed and good days to go,etc. I have 3 within about an hour or a little more away. MM Motorplex, which is great of course but I dunno how busy it gets. Thunderbird Raceway over in Muskegon. My ex's dad goes there all the time and he said it's not too bad, but I haven't heard any other opinions on it. Then 131 dragway south of GR. I've seen it, and I know they redid everything but know nothing about it. Any input guys?

Yeah I guess Thunderbird gets a lot of quads, snowmobiles, etc there so sometimes the wait gets kinda long. I don't know what days though. I know it's a crap shoot but that's what I wanted to look into. If I'm gonna drive that long to the strip I wanna get more than 3 runs in all day ya know.

never been to Thunderbird

US 131. I was there when it first opened for a NMCA event. I didnt run, but I can tell you the facilities are 1st class. Track seemed like it was hooking great and the word around the pits confirmed it. Not sure how it is on T&T days but judging by the way they run things it seems like it would be good.

Stanton is an excellent track. Facilities are great. The track hooks well and is VERY consistent. They run some pretty good programs too.

Between US131 and Stanton, I still like Stanton better. Thats not to say that Martin isnt a good track, because it is, I just like Stanton better.

Stanton is a great track. Good prep, easy to get around the water box if you want to, not too busy. Only problem is that it's out in BFE.

The one time I was there, I wish there were more street cars.

Yeah that's one of the things I noticed when I was at Stanton. Every frickin' car seems to be a monster. I need to get some of my friends to go just so we can have some relatively mild cars there. Kinda intimidating.

I know its way on the other side of the state, but Ubly Dragway is great for T&T. You can get in back to back runs all day long most of the time. It hooks nice too for the most part.

I haven't been out much, but I really like 131 over Stanton. I'm confused when people say Stanton's facilities are nice, because I think they stunk. Only good I saw was the paved pits and that comes down to preference. 131 has it beat (hands down) when it comes to concessions, restrroms, and stands. My 60' times were no better at Stanton (M8) than at Martin (Wednesday T&T) so for me there was no difference in track preparation. I can't attest to the wait in line at Stanton, but they move us through quite quickly 131.

I was also disappointed in the track drying equipment when up at Stanton. From what I could see, Martin had much better equipment and had us running quicker than Stanton after rain.

The last time I went to the US 131 Dragway in Martin you had to drive on a dirt road for quite a distance. I don't know if it is still like that or not? It really sucked.

I think Ubly is a great place. It is in the boonies but it hooks like crazy. I also like the people who run it. I do know that Lapeer sucks booty. The track is terrible and the people that work there are even worse.

I heard the timers at Lapeer were way off. Never been there so I don't know if that's true, but I've heard a lot of people experience this problem. Not to mention the ones you said too.

I have to say Norwalk raceway park, This is best track by far, The IHRA world nationals are held there. Top fuel funny cars and dragsters can run there 300 + mph

No 131 dragway isn't like that anymore. The track and all the surrounding facilities have been completely rebuild in the last 2 years. The entrance to the track is still on the paved portion of the road.

131 dragway

Check the above link for more information, they used to have pictures of the actual track and facilities on there.

It's really good to hear they have put some money into the facility. It sounds much better.

Do they still have the unused dirt circle track on site? I remember one year at the Super Chevy Show they parked cars on the dirt track. The sky opened up and rained alot in a short time. The track turned into a sippy hole. I felt sorry for the people that parked in there, most got burried or extremely muddy at the least.
