Unhappy Reliable crate engines in Detroit area?

Well folks, Mr. Valve met Mr. Piston last night..... factory stamped rocker broke and let the valve drop. I don't think the damage was too severe...aside from a bent valve being stuck in the guide, not much else damage was done...i.e. no hole in the piston.

Anyway, this is the third time the engine has had some crazy stuff go wrong with it. The previous owner new very little about the engine...so he said...which makes it very difficult for me to predict what will fail next. So I've decided to buy a new engine that I can count on to get me to point B from point A without being afraid of the NEXT big failure.

Who would you all recommend for a long block purchase? I've looked at GM Perf. Parts but think I could get a little more power for the same money if I went to an experienced builder. I'd like to have close to 400hp....350cid....no stroker. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

You should call bruce at Aggressive Motorsports or Detroit Speedworkd or APE. Any of the above can help.

Well I can do you one better then a small 350, Sitting in my garage, I have a New 427 Big Block with a 4-speed M21 muncie.

Its a .030 over 70 454 block with 4 bolt mains. Keith Black 10.5:1 pistons, Forged 427 Crank. Its got a Crane Energizer 282 cam, milodon oil pan and pick up. Performer RPM intake with a 750 double carb, holley fuel regulator, and MSD Pro Billet distributor sitting on top of some oval port heads with dual springs. Its got a hayes flywheel, Centerforce clutch, and a hurst shifter.
Then the M21 Muncie!!

Engines never been fired, trans works like a charm. This engine/trans was built for my GTO, But GTO is starting to get depressing, so I want a newer camaro.

Interested Ill send you some pics
