Q's golden rules to engine installation
Q's golden rules to engine installation
1. ALWAYS put the oil dipstick in before you bolt on the headers
2. Make sure you dont put the motor mount on upsidedown, otherwise you have to pick it back up again
3. Headers SUCK...dont matter if they are in or out of the car....PERIOD
4. Never trust the parts guy if he says your NGK plugs will be here next day. They LIE......
Other then that everything went well today. In case your wondering, I took a weeks worth of vacation to play with the motor and get it installed this week. Here are some more new pictures of what was accomplished today. Once again, feel free to index surf if you know how. There is more stuff in there.

Tomorrow it actually gets bolted back into the car, and the fun part begins.....WIRING

The bolts look good, but they do get carved up putting them on. But not so bad as to look like ***.Q
looks great.
you forgot to install the inj. before you installed the fuel rail. it wont run very good like that. haha
where and how much were those dynatech headers? hows the quality and plug access on those? they look nice in the photo's, but the real test will be how they fit in the car.
good job though, it'll all the be worth it in the end.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I was hoping I wasnt the only one who thought it looked nice. I was just looking for some peer approval.
Actually the fuel rails are only partially one, was to hard installing the fuel pressure regulator on the bench, so I stuck it on so it wouldnt flop around and ruin Chris' hard polishing work.
As for the Dynatech headers, they fit fairly good. Had problems with the passenger side one. The slots for the bolts were just a bit off, and the primary got in the way of my stage 8's. A little dremel action and a BFG (big F*****G hammer) and the slots lined up and the primary now has clearance.
I will let ya know how they work once I finally get to drive it!!!!

I did the same damn thing! I slid the passenger side header up, installed the starter, and re-routed whatever wires so they wouldn't hit the headers, got all the bolts tight, started grinding on the stage8 washers and realized the dip stick wasn't in!!
I tried getting it in for about 20 minutes until I gave up and un-did everything and started all over agian. It was a hard lesson to learn, but I will never forget it again, that is for sure!
I feel your pain. It will all be gone when you fire up the car.

Q it will all be worth it when you turn that key and the music starts to play. Some times I will go out to the garage and start the car and just let it run and let the music come out of the exhaust. My wife will ask me what I am doing and I will tell her I am charging the battery because the car has been setting all winter. If I told her I was just wanting to hear it run she would not understand. Nothing like the sound of a modded V8. It's music to my ears.
