Project CrazyRS resumes....
I haven't touched my car in months now. Over the weekend I cleaned up the disaster in my garage and even put up a peg board for my tools (thanks again for your help Denny). I started a list of what I need to do to the car and parts I need just to get it in street trim. I'm looking for a set of Koni Yellow struts/shocks, anyone know where the best deal is on these? I also need a new hood, I've narrowed the choice down to either the SS hood or the Big Block hood. I'm leaning towards the SS hood myself, but what's everyone's opinion? The stock hood won't fit anymore because of the taller engine, so I have to go with one of these. I need to run new fuel lines too, 1/2", should I go all braided or would I be ok to use hard line? The cheaper the better.
And, where else can I loose weight on the car? I've already gutted the bumpers and doors, cut some steel underneath, replaced the K-member and A-arms with tubular chrome moly, and I'm going to use a fiberglass hood. I don't want to gut the interior, (besides the rear seats, their long gone.)
I'm hoping to drop the engine in next week if everything goes as planned, so if anyone wants to lend a hand I could use the help.
Thanks everyone for not letting me sell it (I think)

well if your car is white, then dont get the BB hood, cause thts what Im planning on doin
I like both hoods, but I prefer the bb hood cause its alot bolder then the ss hood. so it depends on if your more bold or more casual.
either way it sounds like a sweet ride.
good luck

Hey Joe, in terms of weight savings... I just got a new set of seats that weigh about 31#'s a piece. I am not sure yet what the stockers weigh but this may be a way of saving weight. Rims are a real fast way to save weight. Some 16# rear rims and maybe some skinnies up front will be good.
The down side to our cars is that they are made of steel so we're kinds screwed there.

Well for the track I plan on running a set of 15" or 16" rims with slicks and skinnies up front. On the street I'm running Simmons FR17's with 275 Comp TA's up front and 315 BFG Drag Radials in the rear. I have seats from a 94Z that look perfect in my interior, so I'm gonna keep those, but good suggestion really.
I think I'm gonna get the SS hood, more people seem to be suggesting that so I think that's what I'm gonna go with.
Keep the suggestions coming!

Chris I'll take ya for a ride as soon as it's ready to rock. I'm actually figuring it's gonna take me until early summer to get if back together, but I've waited this long already.
I'll look into that hatch glass piece, anything that can save weight is worth it!

Joe why don't you set up a work/pizza and beer day. Maybe you could get some help one Sat or Sunday. Right now I am loaded with work but would try and make it. Set it up for mid March or early April and I will try and be there. The bad part is I would not be alot of help with my health.
I thought about that before Chris, but I live so far from everyone that I doubt anyone would show up.
I'm in no rush anyhow, I need money before I can go any further on it.
I decided on the SS hood BTW. Yea, I know its not a SS and their is no such thing as a SS 3rd gen, but I don't care. If I wanted my car to be all originaly I wouldn't be putting in a new engine or any of the other stuff I've got.
I have a ton of in progress pics I want to put up on my website, but I still have to scan them. They'll be up eventually.
