Im not Sure if my Rims are Chrome or high polished but there starting to look a little foggy. One rim on the middle of the spoke has a small ding. I was wondering if you could posible repair something minor if you were to polish them up. I think I like uncoated ones better my self.

Stop highjacking this thread!

One time...at CarCamp...I met a girl that could suck chrome off a doorknob. Left a nice finish

I bought Mothers Polish today.

Hey Chris, Do you reccomend a clear finish? On my rollbar i used something from Murray's. Comes in a blue colored car with a picture of a 6 or 7 spoke rim on the front.(looks like a Ray's Engineering RICER rim really..). It's specifically a "High PErf. Rim coating" but who knows... It works good but only if you put it on really thick. Is anything proven good that you know of?

Hey Chris,

That's some spectacular work there and I did enjoy the SVT hood ornaments too.

denny i have yet to find any clear that works well. your going to loose the luster. most last for maybe a year or two if your lucky. just keep up on it and you'll be fine. my gtp wheels chris did don't have clear on them and i just keep them clean. haven't even polished them and they look as good as the day i picked them up.

any of you considering polishing parts should definately talk to chris. he does great work, definately honest with you on the parts and very fair on pricing. there is alot of work into this stuff and it doesn't come cheap by any means.

great guy!

TrouserSnake what kind of wheels do you have?

Ridebird when I stand her on her hand she is a brunette

AutoRoc any clear will change the shade at least 2 shades. The Blue metal polish is ok. When using it put a light coat on and off right away for clean up. Don't put it on and let it dry. Just put it on and take it right off.

Rick thanks for the kind words. I have tried for years to get the wife to get those mods done so she could look like the pic of the SVT shirt

When polishing parts the first time you have to do the compond first then the polish for the shine to last. Once that is done to keep them looking new just do a clean up polish once a year. If the wheels were polished when you got them then just do the polish once a year. If they get a scratch depending on how big you can take some 1500 sand then 2000. When done sanding go over them with the compond then polish.
If you ever start to do wheels or big parts plan on spending days. This is not something to start if you are not willing to spend days of your time just sanding .

Jeff thanks for the kind words and the work. Jeff got a great deal on the engine work I did for him because he is a friend and his car is outstanding. Jeff's car is a true show car and you guys are going to be in for a treat when you see it at AutoRama.

I am very happy you guys like my work. That means alot to me.

Taner if you have a dremel just use the compond that comes with the kit. That works good. Or let me know what kind of wheel you have. There are alot of different things you can use but you have to know what speed the wheel is going at. Also when using the dremel and compond set the speed at 9. Do the whole part in the same direction. Then go over it again in another direction. This way you are filling all the pores. Then you can take a very soft cloth and rub the wheel marks out. If they don't come out which happen alot polishs the part. When polishing for the first time you are not trying to remove all the compond. You put the polish on and take it right back off wet. You will get a great shink and it will last a long time.
Here is a tip on sanding. When sanding set the parts at a level as to the way you will see the part on the car. The parts will always have some imperfections in it. By sanding the parts this way you will get the inperfections to not show as much. When you look at it from another angle you will see them alot more. Just a few tips that I hope help. If you have any questions I can help with email or PM me.
Q I will see you Sat.
