looking for a cheap bike. old is fine. you just get me a location and/or a phone # and I"ll do the rest. looking for something to cruise around, and tinker with. the CHEAPER the better, as long as its rideable. or close to rideable.
I figure once in a while we all drive by that older looking bike for sale in front of someones house by the road. if you happen to see one let me know. they should be making there way out of the garage's really soon.
I like yamaha virago's and suzuki intruders, but if the price is right, Im willing to go look at anything. just want a good cheap bike to learn to ride on and cant afford a nice bike just yet.
trying to keep it under $1K if possible.
thanks
chris

Mike Couey, aka Timberwolf has one for sale that would probably work great for you. Check the Michigan Speed board's classifieds. Who Needs a starter motorcycle?
Oh, I think I want that SECA II. I'll have to check the family budget then call in the morning. Nice machine, I once road tested a '93 Seca II. Good, plush suspension.
Though this is your thread Chris, so you get first go-around! You going to call on it?

this is the bike Ive been thinking about. he wants $750 for it, but it needs alot of work. and the picture makes this bike look VERY nice compared to seeing it in person. while the cosmetic stuff wouldnt be that bad to fix up myself, Im just not sure if its worth it because of some mechanical issues it may have. if I could ride this bike down the road and it ran fine except for some tunging issues I know it has, Id buy this bike. but it has a flat tire, and he guy doesnt want to fix it. Im reluctant to buy it cause it seems like maybe he's hiding something wrong with it by letting it be undriveable. know what I mean? if it was me trying to sell it you know Id have the tire fixed in no time.
we'll see.
If he doesn't want to fix the tire, just tell him your concerns. Tell him that because you can't test-ride it, you have to adjust your offer to reflect that increased risk.
I once bought a perfect 4000-mile '82 Yamaha Maxim 550 for $550 because the owner didn't want to bother getting the carbs fixed. He went from $1100 to $550 after I told him that I was taking the risk with a non-running bike, and this was as far as I wanted to go on the risk. Luckily for me, I was able to fix the bike for just $200 in tires, $5 in O-rings, and a weekend of carb cleaning in the basement with toothpicks and sewing needles. You might be that lucky, too.

well, I want a cruiser bike for my first bike. the wife wont want anything to do with a sport bike. I'll save that for later on, after I feel comfortable that I can handle that kind of power (physically and responsibly). I just want something I can cruise around on with the wife on the back.
I have a friend of a friend that works at a bike shop and he says they get great deals on tradeins all the time, so hopefully he'll come up with something good for me.
