Wow, I thought I would be able to keep my blue plate darned near forever. I first registered 328NJL in March, 1985. Good timing enabled me to replace 328NJL last year with the personalized license plate, EXCTMNT. It was the ONLY personalized plate that could have tempted me away from 328NJL, which I used for twenty years.

I'm a fan of the plain blue plate as well, nice and simple. I guess that means we will be getting the new 7 character plates too? I just don't like those.

Sucks, I've used the same plate for the nearly 10 years I've had a car registered in this state.

that f-ing blows that its MANDATORY to switch.

I can see not making them anymore (old blue), but to have no CHOICE sucks.

ALL 3 cars and my bike now have to get new plates. which are personalized. There better not be any headache getting them renewed.

You may choose the new standard plate as a replacement. There is no fee for the new standard plate, other than your regular registration fee. Personalized or amateur radio blue plates can have their current letter-number configuration transferred to a new standard plate. If you wish to order the new standard plate before your blue plate is up for renewal, you will pay a $5 replacement fee and your new registration and tab will expire on the same date as your current registration and tab.

my understanding is that they will just issue you a New STYLE vanity plate in your current letter number configuration.

which still sucks.

jeff, looks like whatever is on your plate now will be transfered to the new plate, no extra cost, read this

"There is no fee for the new standard plate, other than your regular registration fee. Personalized or amateur radio blue plates can have their current letter-number configuration transferred to a new standard plate."

p.s., standard plate is the color , not personallized or not....

Re:

They should just keep the standard plate. I dont know why there changing it all of a sudden. But Atleast we dont have to run a plate up front also - Now that would suck
