Talking New Job!!

I know that I haven't posted much in the past few months, but working full time and going to school nights, and finishing my basement doesn't leave me much time. Now for the good news, I got a new job this past week as a service tech at Elhart Pontiac in Holland, MI. I can't wait, a year of BS finally paid off!!

My T/A came from Elhart's, in fact it was a Tulip festival car and then Mr. Elhart (Wayne, IIRC) drove it during the summer of '95. Ken Playter the sales manager is a good guy as near I'm able to tell and he's a car guy, to boot (has had T/A's and currently has a Porsche, I believe)! I've had pretty good service from the back of the operation. The salesweenies seem like fems to me, but that seems to be part of the package in salesdroids these days. So, from a customer's perspective, they seem to be a good outfit. Don't know how they are to work for, but you'll keep us posted, I'm sure.

Good luck with the new job!

congrats man! so what area's will you be working on? or are you training w/someone for a while. thats how I started. I work at Bob Sellers Pont. and like it. its been consistantly slow for the past year and a half though. not dead, but slow. that sucks cause it puts a hurting on the wallet. you'll know what I mean when you get on your own. but its still a good line of work. esp. for someone like me who likes working on cars. plus, you'll get to work on TA's all the time and soon the new GTO! I cant wait for those cars to come out.

anyways, good luck w/the job. and we'll see you again next year at the TA nats. later

Thumbs up

Good deal on the new job. I also worked for dealerships for many years in service. you can make a good living when in the right dealership. If you ever move to the east side let me know as I know alot of owners and Service managers if you move. I will help you get hooked up.

COOL, now you get to work with me. I have Tom in the bodyshop, and Marco calling me at Weller for parts. Just remember my extension is 1306, and all I need is a PO#

Congrats

Thanks everyone. I have wanted to do this for a while. I've bought a car out there a few years ago. We've also had really good service out there and that is one of the things I really wanted. I didn't want to go to a place where their service is known as shoddy. I know Wayne personally, I put on the Annual Fall Friday Night Car Show out there every fall. Its really fun and we usually get around 200 cars. I think I have a link for it. Friday Night Car Show

Thanks Steve, but I wouldnt go quite that far. BTW, I still havent gotten up in the attic to get that power pad for ya yet. Its been to cold, and everytime I go up there the wife has me bring down more lights for christmas, so I am avoiding the attic till the new year But I will have those and the "oh crap" handles for ya soon.

Do you ever rub elbows with Skip? Next time you see him, tell him Randy, formerly of Frankfort, says "HI!" Ask him if he ever followed up on that old Suburban in Ohio that I emailed him about.

Heck yeah, Skip is my boss. He works out of the same building as I do. His office is right behind mine. I will tell him you said hey!
